Top 5 Roof Inspection Service Providers in Johannesburg

Selection of services – We considered roof inspectors that also offer other services related to repairing and maintaining roofs.

Expertise – Since roofs are vital parts of establishments, the inspectors should be competent in how to address different types of roof problems. We also considered the inspectors’ punctuality, turnaround time, and tidiness.

Availability – We’ve chosen service providers who are convenient to contact via any means available. We also assessed how communicative they are, as well as their general accessibility location and schedule-wise.

Price – Having your roof inspected costs money. That said, we looked into whether a roofing company offers fair quotes for services and if these are worth paying for.

Pros

  • Specialises in waterproofing services
  • Also does roof installations
  • Available on weekends

Cons

  • Inspection not a stand-alone service
  • Some reports on needing to improve professionalism

For 27 years and counting, SA Waterproofing remains reputable when it comes to roofing services.

The company is widely known for its waterproofing service. We’re told that theirs is a worthy investment as the contractors are apparently well-versed in getting roofs back in tip-top shape and ready for strong winds and storms.

It’s worth mentioning though that SA Waterproofing’s roof inspection service isn’t stand-alone.

From what we’ve heard, the inspection is a part of the waterproofing and roofing maintenance.

This may be limiting as you’ll need to get the waterproofing services first to have your roof inspected.

That said, it can be an advantage as you’ll get a bundle that already repairs your roof from further damage. We also think this gives clients the chance to avail of other services to improve their roofs’ condition.

We’re also giving it to SA Waterproofing for having staff that practise safety during work.

Clients also mentioned that they cleaned up the site after waterproofing, leaving their roofs spic and span and ready for any type of weather condition.

Another strong point of this roofing contractor is that it is open on weekends, which will be convenient for clients who need roof work on Saturday and Sunday.

That said, we’re not too pleased to hear that some clients didn’t get a callback regarding their quotes and availed services as promised.

We hope SA Waterproofing looks into these incidents and fine-tune some of its workers’ professionalism.

Pros

  • Offers different kinds of roof repair and maintenance services
  • Has a free roof assessment tab online
  • Provides green roofing solutions

Cons

  • Services are limited to industrial and commercial roofs
  • Could improve on responsiveness

Quality Fix Roofing is another noteworthy contractor that offers roofing repairs, maintenance, installations, and inspections.

One reason we think this company is worth hiring for roof inspections is its previous work with several notable establishments.

We looked into its portfolio and found that it has provided roofing services for SC Johnson, Siemens, Toyota, Coca-Cola, and Tiger Brands.

Do note, however, that Quality Fix Roofing’s services are currently limited to industrial and commercial roofs. As of writing, it has yet to open its services to the residential sector.

On a brighter note, we think the company’s services are suitable for business owners looking to keep their roofs in tip-top shape all year round.

We’re also quite pleased that the company offers stand-alone inspection services.

The company has a “free roof assessment” tab on its website, which we think makes it convenient for clients to sign up for the inspection and potentially other roofing services.

We also like that quote estimations can be requested via the same form – it’s also a plus that the quote requests are free of charge!

Another strong point of Quality Fix Roofing is that it offers sustainable services, such as translucent sheeting, thermal insulation installation, and repairing roofs using eco-friendly paints and sealants.

Given that its prime clients are from the business sector, we appreciate the company for offering products and services that help preserve the environment.

It’s just a tad disappointing to hear that the company isn’t apparently that responsive to clients’ calls and emails.

We’re also not too pleased to hear about the staff’s lack of follow-through even if they promised to call clients back.

Pros

  • Inspection services are free of charge
  • Services are open to residential, industrial, and commercial roofs

Cons

  • Services might not be available in some areas
  • Company can be tricky to get ahold of

Apex Waterproofing is a family-run business noteworthy for its waterproofing expertise. It currently does waterproofing on roofs, basements, and balconies.

As for its other roofing services, we like that they’re available to residential, industrial, and commercial sectors.

In terms of roof inspection, Apex currently offers it for free – clients will just need to fill out an online form and mention their roof concerns to avail of the service.

We think this is a plus as other companies will charge inspections separately from other roofing services.

Additionally, we like that clients can invest more in the needed repairs after their free inspection services.

The free-of-charge roof inspections might seem too good to be true. But from what we’re told, the company’s staff are keen on checking every part of the roof for damages and parts that need repainting or refurbishing.

We also appreciate Apex for providing a specific email address for availing of inspection services.

Not only is this convenient, but clients will get to contact Richie, the company’s lead inspection consultant, directly.

But despite the availability of multiple email addresses, we’ve heard that the company can be tricky to get ahold of.

Clients complained about the lack of response regarding the schedule of the inspection and quotes for other services.

On the bright side, the company apologised for these incidents.

It’s also worth mentioning that Apex Waterproofing’s services might not be available to some areas in the outskirts of the Gauteng region.

Even if you live near the area, we recommend contacting the company first to see if you’re eligible for its roof inspection services.

Pros

  • Inspections and quote requests are obligation-free
  • Offers long warranty periods

Cons

  • Other roofing services are slightly limited
  • Needs to improve on competence

Ricoshay Solutions is another roofing company in Johannesburg that offers stand-alone roof inspection services.

What we like about this service is that it’s obligation-free and doesn’t cost anything.

We think this allows clients to budget for their potential roof repairs, or look for another roofing company in case they want other roof services this company currently doesn’t offer.

We also love that quotes for other roof repairs and maintenance services are also free-of-charge.

While Ricoshay Solutions extends its services to the residential and business sectors, it’s worth mentioning that its services might be limited in terms of roofing material.

As of writing, the company does roofing work on thatched and steel roofs and is yet to open its services on other roofing materials.

On a brighter note, we love that the company offers long warranty periods with its roofing supplies and workmanship.

Clients noted that they were offered 20-year warranty periods, with the addition of their insurance premiums being reduced as long as the warranties are valid.

That said, it seems the company needs to work on its competence.

We’ve heard that some of the workers had to be called to return more than once to fix any mistakes and finish off work they didn’t get to complete firsthand.

On a brighter note, Ricoshay’s contractors come by request and are willing to work on errors and complete any missed task.

Pros

  • Inspection services are free of charge
  • Broad range of roofing services

Cons

  • Pricey quotes and deposit fees
  • Needs to be transparent with warranty terms and periods

Visible Improvements’ name might be fitting as we’re told that the quality of its workmanship can be clearly seen.

For more than 40 years, the company has provided excellent roofing repairs, maintenance, and installation services to homes and businesses.

As for its inspection services, we like that clients could avail of them for free and without any obligations.

We appreciate that they let clients decide whether they want to push through with availing of its broad range of roofing services or not.

Some of its current services include painting, waterproofing, installation of new roof sheets or tiles, and basic repairs.

It’s also a plus that clients can get their gutters cleaned and fixed, as well as “expanded” into larger ones for better drainage.

Another aspect we think makes Visible Improvements a reliable roofing company is that it offers long warranty periods for its supplies and repairs.

On the other hand, we’re a little iffy about how expensive the repairs can be when availed of.

From what we’re told, initial deposits for basic repairs cost 60% of the full price, which we think is quite steep for some.

It’s also a tad disappointing that clients don’t get the full perks of their supposed long warranties.

We’re told that they called in for a reinspection due to the repairs wearing off, yet had to pay fees as the inspections are only free for the first time.

We think it wouldn’t hurt if the company clears up the terms of its warranties to avoid clients from getting confused about what they can get or not get for free during their warranties’ validity.
