We got tipsy with the best bottomless mimosas in Johannesburg

Who doesn’t love a tall glass of mimosa? My friends and I are crazy about this amazing beverage, and in fact, we make sure we have a glass or two (or even more) whenever we hang out.

Here in Johannesburg, the mimosa gods smiled upon us and ensured that a number of establishments offer unlimited shots of this drink! I listed a few of the best spots in our fair city where you can score bottomless mimosas for a night out with friends!

1. Social On Main

Address: 1 Posthouse Street Corner Main Road and, Posthouse St, Bryanston, Sandton

Website: http://www.socialonmain.co.za/

Contact Number: +27766095585

Operating Hours:

  • Monday, Tuesday, and Sunday, 12:00 NN to 10:00 PM
  • Wednesday and Thursday, 12:00 NN to 11:00 PM
  • Friday and Saturday, 12:00 NN to 1:00 AM
  • Bottomless mimosas every Sunday from 12:00 NN to 4:00 PM

Social on Main is a great canteen-cum-bar. It proudly calls itself a gin deck. While the interiors are great, there’s a great outdoor bar area (deck) where I was treated to some great views.

However, we eventually settled on staying in the indoor bar of the establishment, and we didn’t regret the decision. Its interiors were classy and minimalist with sleek furnishings and comfy chairs.

We ordered burgers (they were huge) and fries, and we liked the thick juicy patty which was smokey and salty. We came here for their bottomless mimosas, though, and we had a ton of these refreshing orange-flavoured drinks before the night was through!

Check out the “What’s On” tab on their website to learn more about their upcoming events and promos.

2. The White House on Nicol

Operating Hours:

  • Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00 AM to 12:00 MN
  • Bottomless mimosas every Sunday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

I visited the White House in Nicol with some colleagues two weeks ago and was glad I did. The establishment is literally a house painted predominantly white which I think gave it a rural and classy vibe.

The restaurant had an indoor and outdoor seating area, but we chose to stay inside, as we preferred their comfy lounge chairs here versus the steel (but cushioned) chairs outside. I ordered their sweet and spicy peri peri chicken with rice which tasted great!

While they do offer cocktails and other drinks (like fizzy water), I immediately signed up for their bottomless mimosas. What I liked about their mimosas is that aside from the standard orange, you can also go for their lemon-flavoured ones!

Pro Tip:
Check out their Instagram to find out the live performances they have lined up.

3. Bowl’d

  • Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 AM
  • Bottomless mimosas daily from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

My friends and I decided to hang out after work, and we checked out this Sandton restaurant called Bowl’d.

It’s one of the most unique restaurants I have seen in quite a while with its classy-looking bar and tan-coloured tables, chairs, and pillars. The unique part of the bar though is the centre pillar which looks like a giant concrete tree with diamond-shaped leaves.

We all ordered the T-bone steak with fries, and the meat had that amazing spicy, salty, and smokey flavour.

When it came to drinks, some of my friends settled for a few glasses of their four-season punch. As a big fan of mimosas, I obviously went for their bottomless mimosa offer for just ZAR 200—true value for money if you ask tipsy old me!

Pro Tip:
Keep in mind that you need to buy a meal from them (like we did) before you can avail of their bottomless mimosa offer.

I can just imagine how my parents would react if they found out I was having bottomless mimosas for breakfast. Well, Radisson Red offers unlimited shots of this refreshing beverage for breakfast, and I had a blast enjoying tons of it along with other offerings.

It’s a 4-star hotel with classy interiors and dining areas thanks to its leather couches and intricate lighting fixtures. However, I think the best spot to enjoy bottomless mimosas here is at their rooftop spot.

The views here are breathtaking especially if you witness the setting sun over that Johannesburg horizon.

  • Bottomless mimosas every weekend brunch from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

I was craving French cuisine a few weeks back, so a friend of mine suggested that we visit the Arbour Cafe & Courtyard in Birdhaven. I joined her at this cafe, and I was surprised to find out that they offered bottomless mimosas!

It has a bohemian casual look with elegant lighting fixtures, oval mirrors hanging on the wall, colourful green lounge pillows, and intricate green tiles.

We also ordered some light food items such as their crepe. It had creamy caramel syrup topped with orange and powdered sugar.

6. Perron

  • Friday and Saturday, 12:00 NN to 10:00 PM
  • Bottomless mimosas every Saturday (breakfast) from 7:00 AM onwards

Last month, I got a free Saturday (no chores or pending work assignments that weekend), so I invited a friend to have brunch. She raved about this Mexican restaurant in Bryanston called Perron, so we dropped by to check it out.

Frankly, I didn’t expect much when I first saw the facade, as it was a bit plain-looking. Stepping inside the restaurant, though, was a totally different thing, as the Mexican influence could be seen in the establishment’s colourful and festive banners and chairs.

I saw the other patrons order quesadillas and soft shell tacos with green salsa. My friend and I, on the other hand, ordered sweet and crisp churros with lemon dip and bottomless mimosas which we think paired nicely!

Pro Tip:
Aside from bottomless mimosas, Perron also offers bottomless margaritas and coffees. Check out their Facebook to learn more about their upcoming promos.

7. Thathu Restaurant

Operating Hours:

  • Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00 NN to 9:00 PM
  • Bottomless mimosas every Saturday from 12:00 NN to 4:00 PM

I wanted to enjoy something local, so last month, I decided to have dinner at Thathu Restaurant in Illovo. The restaurant’s interiors are impressive with the smart use of traditional dark wood on the walls, furniture, and ceiling-mounted decor.

Since I was famished, I quickly ordered one of their best-selling mains—ribs with mushrooms. The meat fell off the bone and was tender with a smokey and slightly sweet, salty, and hickory barbecue sauce.

I also signed up for their bottomless mimosa offer which I think was great value money considering that it only cost ZAR 189.

Pro Tip:
Check their website to learn more about their upcoming promos and discounts.

8. Nice on 4th

Address: 37 4th Ave, Parkhurst, Sandton

Website: http://www.niceon4th.co.za/

Contact Number: +27117886286

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Sunday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Bottomless mimosas every Friday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Nice on 4th is one restaurant-cum-bakery that I can readily recommend to anyone looking for good food and bottomless mimosas. The place looks like a classic cafe with black and white floor tiles, wooden chairs and tables, and black pendant lighting.

The restaurant’s offers include sweet and savoury treats. I went for their Nutella brownies (as I’m a big fan of this brand), and I loved how thick and chewy the chocolate base of the brownies was!

Good thing I visited on a Friday afternoon, as I was able to enjoy their bottomless mimosas for two hours straight (from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM). It’s just ZAR 300 per person which I think is a great bargain considering the thick orange juice used for the drinks!

Pro Tip:
To ensure that you get a slot for their bottomless mimosa promo, book a reservation via email at [email protected] or through their phone number at 011 7886286.

9. The Whippet

Address: 34 7th St, Linden, Randburg

Website: http://www.thewhippet.co.za/

Contact Number: +27797115604

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Sunday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
  • Bottomless mimosas every end of the month

The Whippet doesn’t even look like a regular restaurant and cafe. It looks more like a hotel lobby with its dark blue facade and walls, minimalistic furnishings, and sleek lighting.

I saw a couple of mouth-watering dishes like a thick and meaty-looking burger and a grilled chicken with salad. However, I chose to order something simple—scrambled eggs with French toast. The dish was served hot with just the right amount of saltiness!

I availed of their bottomless mimosas for around ZAR 300. To fully enjoy the experience, I ordered some oysters to feast on as I took in the views and the heavy foot traffic (mostly of young professionals) of this busy street in Linden.

Pro Tip:
Check their Facebook for schedule updates, as the restaurant might be closed (mostly for cleaning, maintenance, or specific holidays) during specific dates.

10. Séjour

Address: Lloyds Ellis Ave, Houghton Estate

Website: http://www.sejour.co.za/

Operating Hours:

  • Monday to Saturday, 12:00 NN to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM
  • Sunday, 12:00 NN to 4:00 PM
  • Bottomless mimosas every Sunday (brunch) from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM

A friend invited me to join her for drinks at Séjour, and I was glad I accepted the invitation. The restaurant looked like a fine dining establishment with its spacious interiors, carpeted floors, and huge lighting fixtures!

They offer salads and chicken wings, but I went for their ribeye steak served with a side of potato wedges. I liked the juiciness and tenderness of the steak (cooked medium rare) and the saltiness of the crispy fries.

I tried out their mimosa too, and I liked the good balance between the alcohol and the orange juice component of the drink.

Check out their Facebook for announcements and events.
