We selected Atty. Van Der Merwe for his broad knowledge in the legal field and for his apparent tenacity. Just shortly after he joined his first firm in 2012, he was appointed as one of the firm’s directors. 

Fast forward to five years later, the firm was dissolved and four attorneys who were former employees decided to establish a new firm, SWVG Inc.

Atty. Van Der Merwe is one of the founders and seated directors of the new business. In fact, he’s the “V” in “SWVG”.

Atty. Van Der Merwe works in all areas of law but specialises in criminal law. What really impressed us is his 100% success record in court cases.

Previous clients describe him as professional, hardworking, and very hands-on when it comes to his cases.

He’s supported by a small but powerful team at SWVG Inc. too. The law firm is considered one of South Africa’s leading litigious and commercial firms because of its impressive performance and passion for law.

Our only issue with SWVG Inc. is their expensive rates for legal assistance. Although, considering Atty. Van Der Merwe solid track record, it might be worth the extra buck.

We also noticed SWVG Inc. is weak in its communication with clients. Some of those we’ve spoken with apparently had difficulty reaching out to the legal team assigned to their case because the law firm’s lines are often left unattended.

Sebolela Mphafi works with Jurgens Bekker Attorneys as one of its associate attorneys. He took up his LLB in the University of South Africa and accomplished his Post-Graduate Diploma from the University of Johannesburg.

He was appointed as an attorney by the High Court of Saout Africa in 2013 and joined the law firm in 2015.

Atty. Mphafi deals with several specialisations, including family law and domestic violence. On top of that, he’s Jurgens Bekker Attorneys’ expert in criminal law. 

In fact, Atty. Mphafi is proficient in many criminal matters, especially after-hours bail applications.

Previous clients praise Atty. Mphafi for his organisational skills. They’re also impressed with his professionalism and composure in court.

Our only concern is the slight inconvenience to clients brought by the attorney’s location.

Atty. Mphafi primarily works at the law firm’s branch in Alberton. However, they take on cases and offer legal services to all of Gauteng province.

Also, take note that Atty. Mphafi is the law firm’s only attorney that specialises in criminal law. 

Moreover, compared to other attorneys on our list, he’s younger and less experienced. While this isn’t a big deal in our book, it may give some bigger clients some pause when considering him for larger and more complex cases.

Nicholas Charles Currie McCormick is a graduate of the University of South Africa. He completed his articles back in 2014 and worked as an associate attorney in a small law firm.

Atty. McCormick is also an accredited notary public. What impressed us is just after 3 years of building his experience as an attorney, he launched his own law firm.

He’s currently the director of McCormick Londt Inc. Attorneys & Notaries, along with his colleague Atty. David Londt.

Although small, the law firm is reputable for its highly-skilled attorneys and impressive performance in terms of successful cases.

Atty. McCormick has ample experience in several fields of law including family law, litigation, contracts and notarial services. Additionally, he’s the lead in all criminal cases the law firm takes on. 

McCormick Londt Inc. Attorneys & Notaries is a boutique law firm composed of four talented attorneys. They’re a new business, having been established less than 5 years ago.

The law firm is applauded for its quick turnaround time. Previous clients told us it only took Atty. McCormick a few weeks to win their cases, which saved clients time and money.

However, we’re told McCormick Londt Inc. Attorneys & Notaries rates for their professional services aren’t cheap, so we suggest you prepare your wallets if you choose to work with them.

Clement Dankuru is one of MG Law Inc.’s best attorneys. Having taken up his LLB at the University of Johannesburg, he leads the firm’s team of associate attorneys.

Atty. Dankuru specialises in commercial law, contracts, and family law. But one reason why we included him in our list is his extensive experience in high-profile criminal law trials.

For criminal cases like DUIs, Atty. Dankuru provides his legal assistance in the application for bail and hearing appearance, investigation of charges, provision of legal advice and negotiation.

His previous clients commend him for his dedication to the cases he handles and his commitment to an efficient timeline. 

Clients we’ve spoken to described their experience working with the law firm as refreshing because of their unique strategies that are guided by psychology and research.

Although located outside of the city, MG Law Inc. is preferred by clients for their affordable but high-quality legal assistance. Clients feel assured that the legal team assigned to them works hard to win the case instead of milking them for money.

Nonetheless, we suggest MG Law Inc. improves their client servicing. Disgruntled clients shared with us their experience in dealing with dismissive and unprofessional receptionists.

Lee Binneman completed his undergraduate degree from the Rand Afrikaans University and took up his LLB at the University of Johannesburg. 

He was appointed as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2009, and has since then built his experience in trial actions and applications. Currently, Atty. Binneman is one of Schindlers Attorneys’ partners.

Atty. Binneman is popular for his expertise in more than 10 areas of law, including criminal law and general litigation. 

Aside from the praises we heard from previous clients regarding his superb performance in court, we’re also impressed by his solid track record as a litigator.

Atty. Binneman leads and handles all criminal cases taken on by Schindlers Attorneys. He provides legal assistance through assisting in bail applications, appearance in court, and educating his clients of their rights and legal options.

Former clients we’re spoken to commended him for his confidence and professionalism. We hear Atty. Binneman is very tactile and clever when it comes to generating creative solutions.

It’s worth mentioning though that Schindlers Attorneys’ legal assistance isn’t for those on a tight budget. 

We’re also a tad disappointed with the law firm’s poor communication with their clients. Several clients complained that Schindlers Attorneys doesn’t send them timely updates regarding their cases.

Moreover, we’re told that clients’ emails and phone calls are rarely answered, which is a red flag for us.

Note though that rates of their services aren’t readily available on their website alongside other consultation needs that they may need to be aware of.
