Let’s start with the clinic I always visit for my skincare treatments, Valor Laser Skin Aesthetics. Founded in 2009 by the experienced therapist Rachelli, they were one of the first in South Africa to use Alma Lasers’ pain-free laser treatments.

One of the main reasons I keep coming back is the vast range of treatments they offer: laser hair removal, injectables, skin tightening, and microneedling. They also provide paramedical skin treatments like CIT micro-needling and scar revision, which is perfect if you have specific skin concerns like acne or pigmentation.

Another fantastic thing about this clinic is the premium skincare brands they carry. They’re one of the few places in Johannesburg that offer the highly sought-after Mesoestetic brand!

My only issue is their slightly above-average prices. But if you sign up for their newsletter, you can score a 10% discount on your first treatment or order. 

None can compare to the one at Valor!

Their treatment menu is as vast as it is impressive. Whether you’re looking for injectables like Botox/dermal fillers or laser treatments and chemical peels, they have you covered. 

And it doesn’t stop at treatments. They also offer a range of medical-grade skincare products from brands like Lamelle, NeoStrata, SkinCeuticals, and Heliocare.

I also like their Radiant Loyalty Programme. Every time you make a purchase or have a treatment, you earn SkinBucks, which can be used for discounts on future visits.

However, their extreme popularity has led to limited availability for new clients, and they sometimes miss replying to enquiries.

Another thing I like is their personalised home care plans. After your visit, they provide a custom skincare routine to keep your skin fresh and vibrant between treatments.

However, one downside is they sometimes take days to respond to enquiries, which can be frustrating when you’re eager to book your next appointment.

But what really caught my attention were their digital services. Their virtual face mapping allows you to get a personalised skin analysis right from your home. Plus, their live chat feature connects you with expert skin therapists for any questions or advice you need.

Aside from their treatments, it’s also worth mentioning their robust variety of skincare products, like their very own Clear Start brand. Ordering these products online is a breeze, with perks like free samples and delivery.

However, do note that they have above-average prices for most of their treatments and products. It might be wise to consider other options first.

One standout treatment is their Fractional Skin Resurfacing (FSR), which uses cutting-edge radiofrequency and dermal heating technology to refine skin texture, diminish scars, and give you a youthful glow. 

The Mini-Shaper treatment is another winner, ideal for tightening those stubborn areas without major procedures. 

Another thing I love about them is the free onsite and virtual consultations, making it very easy to figure out the best treatments for your skin needs. Just remember to book at least a day in advance, as they don’t accept walk-ins.
