From our experience, you’ll have to communicate with your team and lend them a hand throughout the course, especially with their tightropes and rope bridges. It helped me appreciate my team even more!

These come in several formats, including “Team Time Trivia,” which involves custom-made cubes that allow players to answer questions quicker. There’s also “Gold Loot,” which uses a game show format, and the image-based “Cryptic Visual Trivia.” 

A friend of mine told me about his experience, and it sounded like he had a great time! He got to appreciate his co-workers’ knowledge beyond their field.

We found it really exhausting but also exciting to work together and sync up our rowing. We got 2nd place overall, so our hard work paid off!

Saddle Creek Adventures is a family-owned ranch that has a variety of fun, unique sports and activities. Their team-building programs are tailor-made for experiencing most of what the ranch has to offer. 

Their most notable activities are laser clay pigeon shooting, archery, horseback riding, quad biking, and go-karting. Purchasing their team-building packages allows you to experience 3–5 of these in a day, and the packages are inclusive of drinks and food. 

We picked “The Stallion” package, which, while pricey, let us experience every activity on the ranch. I was particularly fond of archery, which helped me see a new, competitive side to my co-workers. 

Pro tip: If you’d rather enjoy the area’s views and vibes, you can take their scenic helicopter tour! Alternatively, you can also rest and relax at their spa. 

Become the ultimate warrior ninja with Total Ninja’s Obstacle Courses

Have you ever watched that show American Ninja Warrior and thought, “I wonder how well HR would do on this show?” Well, Total Ninja brings the TV show’s exhilarating and hilarious inflatable obstacle courses to you, so now you can experience it as a team! 

They’ll have your team traverse the largest inflatable obstacle courses in the country. Don’t worry, the premises are completely padded in case of any falls! 

It was quite amusing watching my co-workers struggle through the really tight spaces and fast obstacles. Seeing each other flail hilariously brought us closer. 

Pro tip: The team-building packages can be adjusted according to group size, preferred course, and even to accommodate any disabilities. 

A Cooking Contest with MR Team Building

Unlike other options on this list, MR Team Building doesn’t host its programs in a singular location. Instead, this company aims to bring the team-building experience to you through arranging activities at a venue of your choosing. 

They have a few options, including an outdoor relay, laser tag and bowling at the Monte Casino, and rides at Gold Reef City. They also have a cooking contest, where teams will receive a box of mystery ingredients and compete to create the best potjiekos!

My friend told me about this relatively quaint but fun exercise, as it’s one of the activities she had to do during a team-building trip. The ingredients they received were quite unique, including fish, cayenne, and soy sauce, but they were able to make it into a pretty delicious stew!

Beyond Teambuilding has some of the most extensive options on this list, offering truly unique activities such as Rhino Capture and an adventure circuit. They even have indoor activities such as movie-making and an animation station!

The one that stands out for me, though, is the outdoor treasure hunt, which is done alongside the “Survivor Challenge.” This will have your team accomplish physical tasks and sports challenges to survive while working together to find the treasure.

My friend, who works at an otherwise uneventful accounting firm, booked this particular activity. While they didn’t end up finding the treasure, they had a ton of fun and got to appreciate each other’s critical thinking and physical skills! 

Pro tip: Some activities that Beyond Teambuilding offers don’t take place in their dedicated team-building space, so it’s best to inquire!

In a team-building session here with my former workmates, I had to play the killer! Since I was pretty quiet at work, no one suspected me until they put the clues together, which was pretty funny!

SA Murder Mysteries also organises roleplaying events for birthdays and other parties! They don’t have a set venue, so if you’re thinking about booking them, consider where you’d want it to be!
