At the heart of Rosebank Radiology’s offerings is its MRI clinic, which employs experienced musculoskeletal radiologists to perform a variety of scans. The high-field MRI technology enhances image clarity, facilitating detailed examinations of the spine, joints, and soft tissues.

XRAYZ Radiology is one of the most- and highly-rated radiology clinics in Johannesburg. They’re located in Mayfair and accept patients from Monday to Saturday.

The clinic offers several imaging services, namely magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), DXA Scan, X-rays and ultrasound. 

One thing we like about this clinic is they don’t restrict which areas are scanned for MRIs, thus making it more convenient for patients who need multiple images. 

Many prefer XRAYZ Radiology over other clinics for its efficiency. The clinic allows walk-in patients for all their scanning services but, impressively, their system is organised and there are apparently no bottlenecks.

Patients appreciate how they don’t need to wait too long to be attended to. The same goes for the release of MRI scan results, which are usually reported within a few days and within the same day, if marked as urgently needed.

We like that the clinic has complete and updated medical equipment and scanning machines. They also have an online system which lets your doctor examine your scanned images, which is awesome. 

Another reason why XRAYZ Radiology is one of the most recommended radiology clinics in the city is their affordable rates. For MRI examinations, the clinic bills per region scanned, priced at R 4000.

However, there are multiple reports about the clinic’s receptionist and their unprofessional and untoward behaviour towards many patients. We’re told the staff are very rude and grumpy for no reason on most days, which is concerning.

What’s worse is there are a handful of patients who report having experienced blatant racism from XRAYZ Radiology’s staff, which we find appalling.

We’re concerned with how the management condones this poor behaviour despite being called out plenty of times. The clinic is always ready with an excuse, often putting the blame on the patient or on the receptionist’s old age.

Next on our list is Procare Radiology, a specialised radiology clinic dedicated to providing fast and accurate diagnoses for patients. The clinic is led by Dr. Berk, a distinguished expert in head & neck radiology.

Dr. Berk is supported by a small team of radiologists and support personnel who are highly regarded by patients as professional, friendly, and efficient.

Procare Radiology is dedicated to keeping up with the latest medical knowledge and technology, and it’s one of our favourite features of the clinic. Patients also appreciate how their space is well kept and quiet.

A unique service the clinic offers is teleradiology, where they provide consultations and reporting for any diagnostic imaging. 

Procare Radiology uses a cloud-based, computer radiology system called PACS that allows them to cater to patients from all over the world. However, they just interpret the results and you would still need to be examined in a radiology clinic.

Another thing we like about Procare Radiology is they’re partnered with several medical aids, making the costs of radiology exams a lot cheaper.

Take note, though, that Procare Radiology is quite in demand and their clinic is often very busy. In line with this, there are a handful of complaints regarding the very long waiting time, despite setting an appointment beforehand.

We’re told some patients experienced waiting for two hours for their turn, which is dispiriting. It’s also worth mentioning that there are a few reports on the doctor’s tardiness, which made long procedures more unbearable.

Parklane Radiology is one of the leading radiology clinics, especially for women. They were established a decade ago and since then, management was able to significantly improve the clinic’s resources and also expanded the services they’re offering.

The clinic is dedicated to serve paediatric patients, patients with breast cancer and general oncology complications, and gynaecological conditions. They provide general imaging services, including X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, and MRIs.

In addition, Parklane Radiology also specialises in women’s imaging, offering imaging examinations for the breasts and pelvic. There aren’t many clinics in Joburg that offer breast MRIs, so we think this is a great asset for Parklane Radiology.

We’re also impressed to find out that Parklane Radiology is the first internationally accredited breast imaging centre of excellence in all of South Africa.

Another feature we love about this clinic is they’re very well-staffed with accredited and experienced radiologists on site. 

Parklane Radiology also has a separate team dedicated to women’s wellness, who are in charge of administering mammography, stereotactic biopsy and breast MRI.

We’re a little iffy after hearing complaints about the clinic’s poor patient reception. We’re told Parklane Radiology’s receptionists were unattentive and seemed disinterested in assisting patients with their appointments, which is disappointing.

There are also several grumbles about Parklane Radiology’s delayed servicing. Patients shared with us their frustration after waiting for three hours just for a procedure that takes less than 30 minutes. 

We hope Parklane Radiology addresses these issues and improves their management to be able to provide better care and services for patients. 

Lister X-Ray Radiology is a well-known radiology clinic primarily because of its convenient location. This health centre is located at the Lister Building in the central business centre of Joburg, which is also a popular medical building.

We included this clinic on our list considering their solid track record. They were founded over 40 years ago, and is actually one of the first radiology practices in Johannesburg.

The clinic is spacious and furnished with the latest medical equipment and imaging machines, which is a plus for us. On top of that, Lister X-Ray Radiology takes advantage of advanced digital technology.

One of Lister X-Ray Radiology’s strongest assets is their cheap service rates. We love that they’re partnered with major medical aids, but what impressed us is that they charge the same discounted rates even for patients without health coverage.

Lister X-Ray Radiology is a full house directed by two qualified and esteemed radiologists, supported by a team of radiologists, receptionists, and administrative staff. 

We are a little concerned after hearing a number of dissatisfied reports about the clinic having rude and dismissive staff members. Patients told us some receptionists were using curse words and ignored their questions, which are a red flag for us.

There are also grievances regarding the clinic’s slow service. Previous patients told us they had experienced spending the whole day at the clinic to wait for their scheduled appointment.

Last on our list, but definitely not the least, is Proscan Radiology Services. They’re one of the newer radiology clinics in the area, so compared to others, they do have limited patient feedback, but we suggest looking beyond that and giving them a chance.

The first thing we found noteworthy about Proscan Radiology Services is their affordable pricing for excellent quality and efficient service.

We love that the clinic is dedicated to providing accessible and affordable state-of-the-art and comprehensive radiology services. Make sure to keep an eye out, because they offer occasional discounts for select services too.

Proscan Radiology Services also uses advanced imaging equipment imported from Germany and the USA. They’re also the first clinic in South Africa to acquire a Siemens Revelation mammography and biopsy machine and software, which is impressive.

Another feature we love about Proscan Radiology Services is its deluxe amenities. The interiors of their clinic is clean and sleek and the rooms are spacious, which we like.

The clinic is also manned by a big team of qualified doctors, radiographers, and support personnel. All members of their team are skilled and highly-trained, that’s why they’re often complimented by patients for superb bedside manner.

Nonetheless, there are minor grumbles about the clinic’s inactive representatives. We’re told some patients have a difficult time reaching out to the staff for inquiries and follow-ups, which can be an inconvenience.
