5 Clinics Offering the Best Acupuncture in Johannesburg Homepage

5 Clinics Offering the Best Acupuncture in Johannesburg

Credibility: All acupuncturists listed below are properly educated and qualified. But those with awards, long years of service, holistic Traditional Chinese Medicine and other alternatives get extra points.

Range of treatments: Not all acupuncturists can treat the same symptoms, which is why we especially like those that have varied specializations.

Team size: A diverse team gives clients the option to choose an acupuncture according to personal preferences—say gender. It also allows the clinic to cater to more people at a time.

Pricing and payment: We’re rating acupuncture clinics according to the price per session as you may have multiple sessions to treat your conditions. We’re also looking for clinics that accept payment via medical aids.

Accessibility and availability: You don’t want to stress yourself with transportation and scheduling, that’s why we’re also rating clinics according to how accessible and available they are.

Pros

  • Located within the city proper
  • A diverse team of acupuncturists
  • Wide range of treatment options
  • Electroacupuncture for added stimulation
  • Promos for multiple sessions and treatments

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays and Saturday afternoons
  • Relatively pricey

Min Yun Herbal offers various Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatments, including acupuncture. For improved stimulation, this clinic uses electrodes that supply electric current to the needles, mild but still enough to induce relief.

It also offers the Acudetox service, which is helpful if you’re looking for the best acupuncture in Johannesburg for relief from addictions, emotional and mental distress, digestive orders, sleep disorders, depression, and stress.

Additionally, Min Yun Herbal offers Reiki, reflexology, and cupping for a holistic mental and physical wellness.

We also like that this clinic accepts patients of all ages, as long as they’re fit to receive acupuncture services of course.

Such a range of services is made possible by Min Yun Herbal’s relatively large and diverse team of two female acupuncturists and one male acupuncturist properly trained in TCM treatments.

Aside from its large team, Min Yun Herbal also has wide operating hours, allowing for easier scheduling. So, may it be an early day or weekend appointment you want, you may find this clinic a good option.

Best of all, Min Yun Herbal is one of the few acupuncture clinics located inside the city proper.

However, you should know that Min Yun Herbal’s rates are a bit more expensive. Luckily, it does have promotions for multiple sessions or multiple treatments.

Pros

  • A diverse team of acupuncturists
  • Wide range of TCM treatments
  • Consultation fees added in pricing
  • Direct communication with experts

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays
  • Located outside the city centre
  • More sessions needed for promos

JC Acupressure is a good choice for an acupuncture clinic if you’re looking for acupuncture for musculoskeletal, ENT, gastrointestinal, circulatory function, psychological, and respiratory disorders and issues.

It also offers moxibustion, which is found to enhance the healing effects of acupuncture. And for truly holistic healing, JC Acupressure also offers yoga training opportunities, cupping massage, and even bio electrotherapy.

It’s also one of the few clinics with the most established service as it has been serving locals since 2008. We like this quality as it shows how they satisfy their clients while still continuing to improve their skills and treatment options.

We also like how easy scheduling is, what with JC Acupressurs’s 6-day workweek. JC Acupuncture also has its main acupuncturist’s number posted on its website for direct booking of appointments.

Speaking of its acupuncturists, JC Acupuncture also has a team of female and male acupuncturists. Again, we like this because it gives clients options for maximum comfort.

Its cost per session already includes consultation fees and is relatively lower than its competitors. However, its financial promos require more sessions and are thus more costly for those needing fewer treatments.

Another con is its location. To expound on that, this clinic is located in Randburg, so you’ll need to drive or travel a bit further than other clinics.

Pros

  • Holistic wellness practice
  • Wide range of treatments
  • Specialization in natural fertility and smoking cessation
  • Telemedicine consultations available

Cons

  • Located outside the city centre
  • Only one acupuncturist in the team
  • Closed on weekends and late Fridays

Dr Graham Yutar is a holistic wellness provider as he offers homoeopath and TCM treatments to alleviate various conditions. He also includes nutritional counselling as part of his holistic practice.

His expertise involves helping patients undergoing smoking cessation and natural fertility. Still, he can cater to clients with other health concerns like stress, sinusitis, weight issues, and arthritis.

Aside from traditional acupuncture, Dr Yutar also offers biopuncture, which combines modern and traditional medicine. This procedure uses injectable medicine to provide relief to specific body parts.

Another service that Dr Yutar offers is the bioelectromagnetic field therapy (BEMER therapy), which helps speed up the healing of various chronic conditions, like pain, arthritis, and more.

It also helps speed up the treatment of acute conditions like infections and minor sports injuries.

Unfortunately, Dr Yutar operates alone, which means that it doesn’t offer clients the liberty to choose. Still, Dr Graham Yutar is highly competent and is thus capable of providing the best acupuncture in Johannesburg.

This small team also results in relatively poorer availability as the clinic is also closed on weekends and late Friday afternoons. You should also account for the travelling time when visiting this clinic as it’s located in Sandton.

Fortunately, you can book an appointment online and telemedicine consultations via phone, Teams, or Zoom. This allows you to receive medical advice without the need to travel—that’s why we only deducted 1 point for accessibility.

4. Dr Debbie Smith – Acupuncturist, Homeopath

Pros

  • Telemedicine consultations
  • Convenient online appointment forms
  • Affordable costs for succeeding treatments
  • Holistic practice and treatments

Cons

  • Relatively small team
  • Late opening hours and early closing hours
  • Costly initial costs

If you want to visit an acupuncturist that’s well-known all over the country, then Dr Debbie Smith and her clinic may be a good choice. We say this because Dr Smith offers the best acupuncture in Johannesburg and Plettenberg Bay.

Aside from TCM treatments like acupuncture and moxIbustion, Dr Smith’s clinic also offers homoeopathy, biopuncture, facial rejuvenation, and supplementation for all-around physical and mental wellness.

Additionally, Dr Smith’s clinic travels often, which means that she may not be able to cater to as many clients as other clinics. You can check the online website to check the dates for when Dr Smith is in the area.

While there are only a few schedules available for in-person appointments in Johannesburg, we still gave a good score for availability.

That’s because Dr Smith offers telehealth consultations. And also because the Sandton clinic has another acupuncturist on-site full time, Dr Wepener.

Should you wish to make an appointment, you can either call your clinic of choice or you can select services through its online forms. Its convenient online booking forms and online appointments are actually why we gave it a perfect score for appointment booking.

Do know that it requires high fees for initial consultations, even online ones. To balance this out, the clinic offers lower prices for its follow-up sessions, which are significantly less costly when compared to services from other clinics.

The clinic also has relatively shorter operating hours compared to other acupuncture and TCM clinics.

Pros

  • Wide range of TCM and western medicine treatments
  • Various types of acupuncture services
  • Convenient online appointment forms
  • Long years of service

Cons

  • Located outside the city centre
  • Only one acupuncturist in team
  • Closed on weekends

We listed Regenerative here for various reasons. With experts in physiotherapy, TCM, occupational therapy, and life coaching in its team, Regenerative Health offers a wide range of non-invasive treatments.

Second of all, Regenerative Health has experts knowledgeable in modern and traditional medicine alike. We say this because the clinic’s acupuncturist, Dr Steve Stavrou is also a physiotherapist, who has been practicing since the late 90s.

With such expertise, Dr Stavrou offers acupuncture, dry needling, biopuncture, prolotherapy, and trigger point therapy. He and his clinic also offers mesotherapy, moxibustion, and even dietary therapy.

Next, the clinic has been around for over 20 years. We find this to be a sign of how Johannesburg clients continue to trust Dr Stavrou to help with conditions like back and neck pain, arthritis, migraine, multiple sclerosis, and sports injuries like ACL.

Lastly, we added Regenerative Health here because it has convenient online forms where you can easily choose the type of treatment you need and what condition you have.

We did find a few drawbacks to this clinic, including large and diverse team of acupuncturists and a more accessible location.

This clinic is also open only on weekdays. So, if you plan on submitting a request form for an appointment, keep in mind that Regenerative Health is closed on weekends.
