Evenings were spent sipping cocktails in the elegant bar before reading by the library’s warm fireplace. The swimming pool and fully-equipped gym also kept us refreshed and active.

Visit Nelson Mandela Square, just a 13-minute walk away, for a beautiful experience day or night. Surrounded by bars and restaurants and with historical facts and a large statue of Mandela, it’s a must-see.

We appreciated the extra-length beds with orthopaedic memory foam toppers, ensuring a comfortable night’s sleep. Each morning, we savoured the full breakfast included in the room rate, setting a perfect tone for the day ahead. 

Direct access to the gardens from our ground floor room provided a peaceful escape from the city bustle.

We also appreciated the all-day snack availability and the pet-friendly policy, which allowed us to bring our furry friend along.

The full English or buffet breakfast included in the rates was a delightful start to the day.

My air-conditioned room was elegantly furnished with exquisite furniture, evoking the ambience of a museum. It was equipped with all the essentials, including a coffee machine and a lavish private bathroom.

Dining at the hotel was a highlight, with Masterchef Ozzy’s menu served amidst precious artworks.

Explore the nearby Nelson Mandela Foundation, just a short 0.9-mile journey away—a must-visit for history enthusiasts!

One of our favourite features was the sun terrace, perfect for soaking up the sun. Additionally, the concierge service was helpful, arranging everything from airport transfers to room service.

Our room, complete with a balcony, offered a beautiful view and modern comforts like a flat-screen TV and air conditioning.

Pro Tip:
Every Sunday from 12 PM to 3 PM, you can enjoy Jazz Sundays at Sanctuary Mandela. You can choose a ticket for the show only or a ticket that includes a 3-course meal, both of which come with a complimentary glass of bubbles.

Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa

The spa treatments were relaxing, with a massage that melted away our stress and a steam room that rejuvenated our senses. To complement our experience, we also took advantage of the well-equipped and maintained fitness centre.

The Cliffside Boutique Getaway

In the evening, we gathered on the terrace to enjoy the stunning views and play darts. The combination of luxury and natural beauty made our brief stay unforgettable.

I appreciated the covered area of the terrace that allowed me to enjoy the jacuzzi even when it rained. The outdoor shower was a delightful touch, adding to the suite’s luxurious feel. 

What truly made my stay exceptional was the boutique ambience and the attentive service of the staff whose warm smile and efficiency made us feel right at home.

Experience stunning views of the Johannesburg skyline from the top-floor Sky Spa at the hotel. Enjoy a soothing Swedish massage in the beautiful treatment room, situated on a wooden deck above a flowing water feature.
