10 Best Bubble Tea Spots in and near Johannesburg That Made Us Crave More Boba
Forget regular coffee and tea for now. Johannesburg has a ton of bubble tea spots for you to enjoy.
Luckily for my fellow boba enthusiasts, my doctor asked me to moderate my sugar consumption, or else you all would have serious competition getting these delicious drinks for yourself!
And I’m not one to keep secrets as well. I’m sharing my favourite spots around the city. Hope to see you there soon!
1. Ben’s Bubble Tea
Address: 38 Grant Ave, Norwood
Website: http://www.bensbubbletea.co.za/
Contact Number: +27696890201
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
We dropped by Ben’s Bubble Tea and the family loved the casual vibe of the restaurant and their boba tea offerings. They have a small indoor dining area, but we chose to stay at the outdoor one to enjoy the views of the area and the locals passing by.
We saw a variety of flavours and bobas, and we went with their signature milk tea. The creamy milk topping was thick and the kids loved it while we, adults, appreciated the nutty taste of the boba and the just-right sweetness of its cinnamon powder topping.
Pro Tip: You can also pair their boba teas with their mochi to have a filling snack and drink combo. We liked their matcha tea mochi—not too sweet with its delicate matcha powder coating. |
2. BubbleBee
Address: Next to Checkers, Rosebank Mall
Website: http://www.bubblebee.co.za/
Contact Number: +27640844294
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Our family went to Rosebank Mall and had to check out what BubbleBee had to offer. Their location was a bit so-so as it’s only a small beverage stall, but we came here for their boba teas and we’re glad we tried them out.
We tried two of their best-selling flavours—coconut milk tea and caramel milk tea. Both are thick and creamy, but the coconut milk tea was less sweet with a hint of saltiness in it.
On the other hand, their caramel milk tea has a thicker texture, sweeter flavour, and creamier overall taste, which we thoroughly enjoyed after a day at the mall.
Pro Tip: You can also ask BubbleBee staff for add-ons to your drinks. They offer additional pearls (regular boba) for ZAR 8 per scoop, or you can also go for their bursting boba (ZAR 10) for that unique mouth feel with each sip! |
3. happy.me Bank City
Address: 62 Pixley Ka Isaka Seme St
Website: https://www.happyme.co.za/
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Closed on Saturday and Sunday
happy.me is an amazing bubble tea shop where you can just chill and hang out with friends thanks to the establishment’s set-up!
With its simple but modern interiors thanks to its sleek furniture and warehouse-like walls and lighting fixtures, we found this to be the perfect spot to drink bubble tea while reconnecting with loved ones and friends!
Plus, we were also impressed with the variety of drinks on offer here, as they have the classic boba tea along with shakes (e.g., taro, peach, and vanilla) that have been given the boba treatment as well!
We also ordered their sandwiches and burgers, and we must say they’re perfect when enjoyed with happy.me’s boba teas!
Pro Tip: If your child has an upcoming birthday or special activity, you might also consider booking happy.me for your celebration. You can check out their Facebook for information regarding their party packages. |
4. Momo XO
Address: The Zone, 177 Oxford Rd, Rosebank

Contact Number: +27109001994
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday, 10:00 AM to 9:30 PM
- Friday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Momo XO is a Joburg restaurant that you need to consider if you want premium-tasting boba teas with customisable menu items.
For example, you can choose how much meat or veggies to include in every dish such as their California maki and dim sum. We went all out and ordered a ton of meat fillings for our dim sum, which had the right saltiness and spiciness for us.
Pair these savoury dishes with their signature boba drink, vanilla caramel shake with boba, for an unforgettable dining experience!
Pro Tip: Due to the customisable menu of Momo XO, each branch may offer something different depending on ingredient availability. We recommend that you call the branch you want to visit to learn more about their offerings. |
5. Yoyo Bubble Milk Tea

Contact Number: +27 73 323 4567
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Yoyo Bubble Milk Tea offers a unique proposition for its customers.
Aside from the variety of boba flavours, you can order something fruity and light. We tried their Fresh Fruit Tea (Full Love Grapefruit for me and Full Love Orange for the kids) and felt refreshed!
We also tried their Yoyo Smoothies which come in grape, mango, and strawberry flavours. Their grape smoothie was definitely our family favourite with its sweet taste, creamy smoothie base, and bits of grape!
Pro Tip: If you’re after a healthy gut, you can order their bubble tea flavours with added lactobacillus such as strawberry, mango, lactic, and passion. |
6. Xing Fu Tang Bubble Tea

- Friday and Sunday, 12:00 NN to 10:00 PM
- Saturday, 12:00 NN to 11:00 PM
A boba tea option straight from Taiwan, Xing Fu Tang Bubble Tea is a must-try if you’re at Zone Rosebank. We tried out their boba and milk tea offerings after a day of shopping, and our family got hooked!
Their best-selling boba line includes their signature milk tea, fruit tea, house fizz, and dessert+yoghurt series.
However, we strongly suggest that you try out their favourite drinks series which include brown sugar boba milk with Biscoff and mango smoothie. We especially liked the Biscoff, which was a bit salty and sweet!
Pro Tip: Before visiting their Rosebank branch, you might want to give them a call to check for their boba flavour availability. You might drop by only to find out that your preferred boba variant isn’t available, which happened to us during our visit (why isn’t the passion fruit boba available, Xing Fu Tang?). |
7. Bubble Boba Bubble Tea & Bakery
Address: 329 Rivonia Blvd, Edenburg, Sandton
Contact Number: +27 66 007 9087
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Sunday, 10:30 AM to 8:00 PM
Bubble Boba Bubble Tea & Bakery is one cute bubble tea shop, and we can’t help but love it! The interiors are simply stunning with pastel-coloured walls and furniture, dim lighting, and cute decor!
We like that their store has a variety of drinks—from fruit drinks to caffeine-infused ones (Bubblecino series).
Our favourite, however, is their cheese topping series such as their mango cheese cup with its perfect medley of sweet, salty, and tangy!
Pro Tip: You can also ask the bubble tea shop’s staff for additional toppings such as boba, red beans, coconut jelly, and cheese (ranging from ZAR 9 to 10 each). Plus, you can also convert regular boba to popping ones for an additional ZAR 3. |
8. Susu Bubble Tea Edenburg

Operating Hours:

- Friday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
We don’t know which we like more—Susu Bubble Tea’s cute interiors or its delicious boba offerings, but we’re sure of one thing: both are top-notch and definitely worth your time!
The store’s interiors are cute, using colourful walls designed with a cartoon mammal with huge whiskers.
Their boba offerings range from various fruit flavours (e.g., banana, mango, orange, and grapefruit) and other special variants (like tiramisu and mochi).
Our favourite was Chocomisu, which tasted like cake (chocolate tiramisu flavour) so much so that we felt like we just had dessert rather than boba tea!
Pro Tip: If you don’t have time to visit their Sandton store (or any of their stores for that matter), then you can order online. You need to order drinks that are worth at least ZAR 100 and pay the delivery fee of ZAR 20. |
9. Sprino Tea

Sprino Tea is a bubble tea shop that we think is worth your time while you’re in Johannesburg. We liked the store’s interiors with its casual cafe feel thanks to its use of solid light colours and minimalist furniture making it a perfect family bonding spot.
Plus, they offer amazing tea flavours for you and your loved ones to try out!
We, grown-ups, tried the grape jelly special blend which had grapes, jam, and sweet caramelised sugar. The young ones with us chose to go for the classic milk tea with its creamy taste and chewy boba.
Pro Tip: You can also inquire about their additional toppings ranging from ZAR 8 to ZAR 15. Their basic toppings include brown sugar tapioca, honey white pearl, red bean, and coconut jelly while their more premium ones include strawberry popping ball and cheese topping. |
10. Figgy’s Bubble Tea

Figgy’s Bubble Tea is a boba shop-cum-cart where you can sample creamy and refreshing boba drinks! While the cart concept indicates that their treats are for takeaway, the store provided benches for customers like us who want to drink onsite.
They also have different flavoured boba milk teas such as blue lemonade boba and strawberry boba. Their best-sellers are classic milk and chocolate boba, which we found to have the right amount of sweetness and creaminess with each sip.
Pro Tip: Check out their Instagram for any updates to their trading hours. They sometimes close shop on holidays or festivities (Christmas and New Year). |
