They’re a BEE-certified crane hire company that provides professional lifting solutions from 4 tons to 1200 tonnes, which increases our confidence in their services.

One of our favourite things about Marlboro Crane Hire (Pty) Ltd. is their wide variety of crane options.

It’s impressive that they have over 100 cranes, with varying weight-carrying capacities and functions. Marlboro Crane Hire (Pty) Ltd. has mobile crane hires, crawlers, heavy lifting cranes, rigging services, and transport services. 

We also appreciate the company’s measures to make sure that the team works safely every time. Marlboro Crane Hire (Pty) Ltd. provides the resources, machinery, appropriate training, ancillary equipment, and personal protection for each of its staff.

Moreover, each team member is properly informed of procedures and work practices to prevent accidents on all occasions.

We also appreciate their 24-hour on-site support. They also provide emergency services for all machines.

It’s reassuring to know that the company’s technicians are available to assist if ever a crane breaks. We’re told their after-hours servicing is quite reliable too, which is a plus for us.

That said, there are minor grumbles from previous clients having experienced delayed servicing. These also caused their projects’ timelines to adjust, which isn’t ideal for urgent projects.

Marlboro Crane Hire (Pty) Ltd. did apologise to the clients concerned, which we can commend them for.

Lastly, some potential clients also complain about the company’s inactive customer service. We’re told their quote requests and inquiries haven’t been attended to weeks after they sent it. 

Sarens Siba Pty LTD. is a world-renowned company that provides services for crane rentals, heavy lifting, and engineered transport. 

One thing that impressed us was Sarens’ business growth over the years. They’re currently one of the global leaders in the crane services industry with branches worldwide.

Sarens is well-equipped with heavy lifting and specialised transport tools. They also have several types of cranes: giant cranes, hydraulic cranes, Lattice Boom cranes, and heavy lifting tower cranes.

They also offer trailers and technical support equipment such as barges, skidding, gantries, and stand jacks.

We love that they’re updated with the latest crane models and the equipment they use are top-tier in terms of quality.

Sarens upholds a strict Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) policy to keep all its team members and clients safe. The company has developed their own rules and procedures that every technician knows by heart.

Clients prefer Sarens for their manpower and efficiency. Their teams are applauded for having a clear game plan for every project they handle.

Sarens is in charge of several extensive projects in and around South Africa. As a result of them being highly in demand, it may be difficult to book them for crane services.

Furthermore, as they’re a very successful big company, their service rates are a bit higher than that of their smaller competitors.

Chimes Cranes is another one of the popular players in town. They’re an owner-run and managed crane rental shop that has over 25 years of experience in the industry.

Chimes Cranes offers a wide variety of cranes with different weight capacities ranging from 8 tonnes to 275 tonnes. They also rent out crane trucks and access platforms.

Chimes Cranes is proud of their equipment quality, reporting that 90% of their fleet consists of Tadano All Terrain and Truck Mounted cranes utilising German and Japanese technology.

If you’re looking to buy rather than rent, Chimes Cranes also has different kinds of cranes posted for sale.

Their technicians and team members are all qualified and thoroughly trained to maintain a safe and productive workspace. Clients compliment Chimes Cranes’ staff for their swift solutions and high-quality workmanship.

Chimes Cranes is recommended by previous clients for their quick response to service requests. In addition, we’re told they’re known to beat timelines and finish the job quickly.

Our only issue is the company’s seemingly idle customer service. Some clients complained that they haven’t been attended to even after multiple calls and emails. 

We’re also disappointed to hear there are cases where the calls do get picked up, but clients are faced with grumpy and unprofessional representatives.

Next on our list is Santana Lifting Projects, who have been in the lifting service industry since 2003. They are known for their cost-effective and tailor-made solutions.

Santana Lifting Projects is one of Johannesburg’s go-to crane service providers, as they have the capability to support small to medium projects. 

Aside from rentals, they also offer the provision of rigging equipment, accompanied by a trained rigging crew. Impressively, the company is also able to assist with abnormal loads and cross-border transportation.

We like that they have a wide selection of crane options available for every need. Santana Lifting Projects has rough terrain cranes, truck-mounted cranes, all-terrain cranes, crawler cranes, spider cranes, and telehandler.

Their equipment is able to handle weights of up to 220 tonnes, which is impressive.

We admire how the company values the safety of their teams and clients. Each technician undergoes safety education and thorough training in equipment handling and addressing hazards. 

We’re just a bit disappointed to hear grievances about delayed servicing. Clients shared that they experienced project delays because Santana Lifting Projects’ team wasn’t able to get to the site on time.

We also noted that their customer service can be improved. Potential clients complained that they are still waiting for callbacks and responses to their email inquiries.

Jumbo Projects is a young trendsetter in the heavy lifting and machine moving industry. It’s amazing how they’re the only company in South Africa to have two 160T/M knuckle boom cranes, one 210T/M knuckle boom crane and two 40T fixed boom cranes.

One remarkable feature of Jumbo Projects is they’re not limited to providing their crane services on-site. They were able to acquire permission to legally travel through weighbridges and tackle a 50-tonne lift anywhere in and out of South Africa.

They also offer a broad range of services related to crane work. Clients love how Jumbo Projects’ technicians are also experts in rigging, power lines, and pipelines. 

Each of their team members is qualified and has years of training in handling cranes, no matter the size. The company also takes safety seriously; thus, all technicians are trained to assess and handle site hazards,too.

Previous clients commend Jumbo Projects for their quick turnaround time, expert insights, and cost-effective solutions.

It’s also a plus for us that they’re operational even on weekends. This is really convenient, especially for clients with big projects that are in progress round-the-clock.

Our only issue with Jumbo Projects is their limited crane options. While they do have the necessary machinery to get most jobs done, competitors offer more variety in size, function, and weight carrying capacity.

Also, there are a handful of grumbles from previous clients regarding Jumbo Projects’ customer service representatives. We’re told the company can be difficult to touch base with, which some potential clients find bothersome.
