The Best Hair Salons in Stellenbosch That Won’t Fry Your Hair!
We often joke about firing those who roll to work with terrible locks. Obviously, that’s just for banter, but we really do take good care of our hair.
And while good genes and home tricks help, our true secret is knowing and hitting up the best salons in town. Now, if you’re in Stellenbosch, stressing about the prices and quality, that’s understandable. Some joints don’t bring that lushness.
Lucky for you, we found the freshest salons, places even our pickiest hair divas go to.

I’ve been using Tosca Salon for a good while now. The shop has been running since 1972, so they’re hard to miss.
So far, the services hold up well. Stylists handle the basics like cuts and colours, but also know their way around advanced treatments like micro keratin.
The atmosphere is what I’m looking for in a salon, too. Being spot-free and properly lit helps, though it’s the accommodating staff I love most, especially since they provide free consultations.
I’m a fan of their deals as well, like the Wednesday promo where all cuts are 10% off. Other days, there are discounts on Brazilian blowout or Botox treatments.
Moreover, combo services are on the menu for splurging efficiently. There’s also a loyalty programme that’s worth considering.
Not the cheapest spot for a gents’ cut, though. I’d also prefer if the Muk treatments are priced based on hair length.

Most of our crew gets their cut at Stellies Chop Shop. Makes sense, as the salon’s bread and butter is providing trendy haircuts.
The joint also nails the ‘laid-back’ vibe we’re after. Staff are easy-going, and the leafy, sun-bathed space feels like a mellow hangout instead of a soulless, commercialised salon.
Skills-wise, they’re sharp. Clients have especially praised Chane, Mieke, and Rivaldo.
However, it’s not for last-minute cuts. You have to book, and their pros are often in high demand.
Also, don’t expect fancy treatments like argan oil masks or micro keratin therapies. Here, it’s mainly cuts, throat shaves, beard trims, styling, and colouring.
If that’s the set of services you’re after, they’re fire. The prices alone are within Stellenbosch’s typical rates, starting with the ZAR 180 cuts and ZAR 300 colour-plus-style combo.
No cheap goods either. They use quality products like Wella and Lock Stock & Barrel.
Gave Great Advice
‘Great spot for a haircut. Raveldo is a legend. He really took his time while cutting my hair and gave great advice on how I should cut it as well. I highly recommend the chop shop.’

Le Hair Lounge’s regulars choose them for hair colouring, bridal styling, and highlighting. Fair enough; those have been their specialities for over 17 years.
The salon can also flex its ‘loyalty factor.’ Plenty of clients we spoke to have stuck with this name for years, some even for 10–15 years.
Better yet, their services’ results are often described positively. The wash-and-blow-dry offering, for instance, is often said to leave the hair smooth, even, and bouncy but not in a heavy way.
Their head massages and personable approach get some love as well. Letisha, in particular, got plenty of name drops from our interviewees.
As for prices, they align with the city’s standard.
Unfortunately, they close shop on Sundays. Slots can also vanish quickly, so booking is non-negotiable in our opinion.
On the upside, promotions pop often. A teammate even scored a neat 20% off a Brazilian blowout recently.
Great Results
‘Was visiting from the UK and booked a wash and blow-dry, great results and the best ever hair wash/massage.’

The Boredroom’s chief perk is being wallet-friendly. Ladies’ cuts, for instance, are pegged at ZAR 320, matching Stellenbosch’s standard rate. Other services follow suit, particularly foil, tint, and blow-dry treatments.
Honestly, that surprised us, seeing that they use premium brands only. When we popped by, the salon’s shelves were stocked with stuff from Matrix, a name known for its professional range.
We gave the setting extra points, too. Lots of natural light enters the very open, minimalist, and modern setup.
In addition, we didn’t face booking concerns, as the appointment was processed via WhatsApp. The receptionist replied within a day and heeded our special requests, including our preference of getting matched with an experienced stylist.
The cherry on top? Most sessions end with a stress-melting, 7-minute head and neck massage.
That said, the weekend closure is a letdown. Appointment slots are also limited, so, like us, you must be speedy to not miss out.
Amazing

If top-shelf products matter most to you, Style Bar might be your spot. Only elite global brands like Morrocannoil, Redken, and Kerastase fill up their shelves.
What’s more, they have an in-house training studio. That means their already certified stylists are kept sharp with regular training sessions.
Speaking of the stylists, they’re well-informed. Before and after each appointment, they usually answer questions and run clients through each product or haircare tip.
Just don’t expect budget pricing. One teammate paid ZAR 180 for just a fringe cut, and that’s without primo extras like product application.
They also aren’t big on deals, which makes the prices sting more.
On the flip side, almost everyone we chatted with was satisfied with the results. The salon’s free consultations and massages were also praised.
To top it off, getting booked is easy. Style Bar has many stylists and is open daily, usually even on holidays.
Very Happy
‘I was the mother of the bride yesterday and wanted my hair to look elegant for the occasion. Saskia styled it beautifully, better than I expected., and I was very happy!’

Helpful and Professional
‘Stacey, is very friendly and always talks to me about the treatment she suggests to do. She takes her time with you and interacts with you in a beautiful way, showing she is not pretending but is sincere in her dealings. She tells you the benefits of the product she suggests and will inform you of the current promotions.
For the rest of the staff. They are all very helpful and professional. I get a good and welcoming feeling. The ladies that work at the wash station does a fine job and you feel refreshed when they are done with you their technique and the wonderful head massage. The salon is neat and well run. And have observed them interact with their clients and they are really enjoying what they do.
Well done, ladies. You are all amazing and this will not be possible without the tright leadership.’
