Discounts and promotions can really attract any paying customer, and I think PetGeez does this really well. They offer promo deals daily for a short period of time on their website, which I think is a smart way to get people to add lots of stuff to their cart. 

I, for example, ordered a dog bed, chew treats, wet dog food, collagen supplements, and a calming collar, because, why not? I saved over R200 on everything I bought!

Although I went a little overboard with the pet store haul, the items I got were, at the very least, useful. My dog didn’t necessarily calm down as the collar promised, but I got what I paid for with everything else. 

Moreover, I love that PetGeez offers free delivery for orders of about R450. With the prices for pet goods and services in Johannesburg, the waived delivery fee really helped lessen the buyer’s remorse. 

I was just a bit iffy with the customer service, though. I got wet cat food instead of dog food (which I ordered and double-checked before paying), and when I complained to PetGeez, they didn’t get back to me until a week later. 

They still reversed the order and sent me the right one, free of charge, though.

If you’re looking for a pet store that caters to all sorts of pets, including birds and fish, ePETstore is a pet store in Johannesburg to keep on your radar. The store sells a bunch of pet supplies and goods, ranging from feeds to bedding and litter. 

They also offer grooming, wellness, cleaning, and odour control products that I don’t see a lot of pet stores sell on hand. They’re not the cheapest I’ve found, but it’s good to know that they offer such items in case. 

While I usually prefer browsing in their physical store, I also like to order online because the interface is easy to navigate. 

Plus, they deliver my orders quickly. I have had problems with packages getting lost along the way, though, but they eventually reached me in good shape. I got an email from ePETstore, and they were apologetic about it.

I think when it comes to brand variety, Turf Pet Hyper takes the cake. They’ve got all kinds of brands like AviForm, MEDPET, RHÖNFRIED, Pigeon Vitality, and more. 

They also specialise in supplying pigeon racing goods, such as accessories, food, and nutrition supplements. I never knew that racing pigeons were a thing, but if that’s the kidneys of pet supply you’re after, then Turf Pet Hyper may be your next go-to. 

I once ordered dog food and supplements from them and although they were quick with the checkout, I noticed that the items sent to me were close to the expiration date, especially the supplements. 

It was hard to send them back because I paid quite a lot for the items, but Turf Pet Hyper was nice enough to replace them for me. I had to pick the items up from the physical store, though!

Absolute Pets is another pet store in Johannesburg that I recommend for people who prefer ordering online. Their website is super user-friendly and regularly updated. 

I always make sure to check out the Promotions section of the website to check for discounted pet supplies (since not all physical stores offer the same promos). I turn to Absolute Pets mainly for their treats and deworming medications, but I recently tried ordering their beds and blankets as well. 

I spent well over $500 for everything I ordered (which is quite a lot). Despite the high total bill, I qualified for free delivery, and their service coverage is quite extensive too. 

It took them almost a week, though, to deliver all my items. I would’ve liked it if they updated me about any delays, but at least all my items arrived in good shape.

Don’t let the name Canine and Co. fool you into thinking they only favour dogs. This pet store in Johannesburg, in fact, sells pet supplies for birds, hamsters, fish, cats, and dogs! 

One thing I like about Canine and Co.’s physical store is how organised their displays are. It’s easy for me to find what I need through the shelves because each row is labelled according to its function. 

This omits my need to ask for help (which I sometimes get shy about). I have tried ordering online, but I noticed that the items I would usually get in their physical store are labelled as “Out of Stock” online. 

Luckily, items under “Flash Sale” are usually ready for delivery. I haven’t had many problems speaking to the staff members in the physical store, but I was pretty bummed out with how their online customer service took ages to get back to me on an inquiry. 

Overall, Canine and Co. is still a solid pet store to visit for all your pet supply needs. I recommend shopping in person, though!
