Founded in 2003, Mobilesoft Cellular is one of the longest-running phone repair shops in Johannesburg. Over the course of 20 years, the shop has proven its expertise in quality repair by maintaining a good reputation and low return on their repaired phones.

One of Mobilesoft’s biggest advantages against its competitors is its technicians are qualified to repair a wide range of brands. Unlike most repair shops that mostly work with Apple, Samsung, and Huawei phones, the shop can also repair Nokia, Oppo, Vivo, and newer brands.

Aside from phones, the shop also repairs tablets, laptops, and computers. It’s basically a one-stop shop for all your gadget repair needs.

Its fast turnaround time also makes it a great destination for quirk repairs. Most repairs take less than two days unless the replacement part has to be sourced elsewhere, which is quite rare.

We also like that they offer a warranty for all their repair service as it gives customers peace of mind when sending their phones to them for repair. This is quite important since the repair shop isn’t accredited by any major brand.

With five qualified technicians available, SUS Repairs offers quality repair service to a wide range of gadget and phone brands at a relatively fast turnaround time. They can repair Apple, Samsung, LG, Sony, Acer, and Lenovo items.

SUS is also a Samsung-approved repair centre, so it’s one of the most reliable places to leave your Samsung device. They have a range of genuine Samsung parts to use if your phone ever needs a part replaced.

Despite being accredited by Samsung, it still offers a 3-month guarantee on all its work to ensure its customers. This is one great way for the shop to get the customers’ trust since the technicians’ 7-year collective experience isn’t long enough compared to other shops.

The repair shop’s fast turnaround time also stood out to us. My friend’s S23 Ultra was already ready with a brand new screen in two days, which was quite faster than we expected when they said they didn’t have the screen in stock and had to order it from a supplier first.

Their response rate to customers’ enquiries, though, isn’t as fast as their repair service. They take days to respond to emails and sometimes don’t answer the phone, making it hard for customers to get a hold of them and enquire.

BrilliantTech_iFixit is your one-stop shop for all your phone needs. It offers a wide range of phone accessories, such as phone cases, screen protectors, batteries, and a lot more.

On top of that, the shop offers repair services to a wide range of cellphone brands. They can repair cracked screens, broken audio jacks, faulty microphones, water damage, broken power buttons, and a lot more.

One thing that we really love about them is they offer free diagnostic tests, allowing customers to decide if the phone’s worth repairing after finding out its problem. It also minimises the risk of extra charges being added as they go through with the repair process.

The shop is also one of our most recommended places for those who need a quick repair for their phone because of how fast they are. They’re typically able to repair phones within the day and are open until 7:00 PM during weekdays, so you can easily go to them after work.

We just hope they can make sure that the repairs are done properly before sending them out to the customers. Although we’ve personally only had good experience with the shop, a few customers experienced the same problems with their phone a few weeks after the repair.

Previously known as gMobile, iMobile Repairs has been offering fast phone repair service to Jo’burg locals for the past 16 years. It specialises in repairing Apple products, like iPhones and iPads, though it can also fix some Android phones.

The shop is best known for replacing cracked screens within an hour. Since they already have a large stock of iPhone screens, they’re able to finish the repair much faster than other shops in the area.

It’s also really impressive how affordable their service is. Their quotes are usually much lower than other repair shops, especially Apple-accredited ones, and they rarely go over the quoted price, earning them a solid following among Apple users in the city.

That said, there are a couple of reports of the shop using non-genuine Apple parts for their repairs. This has caused some of the customers to return the phones to the shop for another repair.

Good thing iMobile provides a three-month to one-year warranty on their work, depending on the type of repair and damage. This makes it easier to have the phone fixed, in case the part they used isn’t functioning properly.

What we really love about the shop, though, is that it offers both original and generic parts. While original parts are the best choice, the shop’s generic parts allow customers to have their phones repaired at a much more affordable price without a significant decrease in quality.

It’s also great that the shop offers a wide range of refurbished phones and tablets, giving customers the chance to buy gadgets at an extremely affordable price.

The only complaint we really have about the shop is its slow turnaround time. They sometimes take weeks to finish repairing phones, which is far slower than any other repair shop on this list.
