What we love about Kempton Caravans & Leisureworld is its wide selection of RVs. We visited the store and were pleased to find different kinds of vans, safari trailers, and caravans available.

It’s also a plus that this RV dealer has a wide inventory of camping equipment. We think this makes it convenient for people to shop for outdoor essentials for their recreational vehicles.

Since RVs can be expensive, one of the strong points of Kempton Caravans & Leisureworld is that it offers brand-new and pre-owned trailers.

We looked into the shop’s secondhand trailer selection and were actually pleased to find most of them having mint condition.

Although, we admit we’re a bit iffy about some of the staff not knowing what items they currently have in their inventory. 

Customers also complained about how pricey the old stocks of RVs and components were even if they aren’t rare or obsolete.

On a brighter note, they have an inventory of spare parts suitable for various trailer types. The components also reportedly have superior quality, so some customers still shop here to find value-for-money RV parts.

We also like that the shop welcomes trade-ins for all RV models and makes from trailer owners looking to upgrade to newer and bigger models. 

It’s also a plus that the dealer has a workshop that does repairs and maintenance work for RVs of all models and makes.

Kempton Caravans & LeisureWorld is also open on Saturdays and accommodates clients from anywhere within Greater Johannesburg, which we love.

Conqueror Off-road Campers is another notable RV dealer that services various areas within Johannesburg.

One of the things we love about this dealer is that it also carries both new and pre-loved camper trailers. 

We’re also told that the pre-loved trailers are affordable–with most models being in pristine condition–so we’re happy that customers get cost-efficient RV options.

Although, we think it’s worth mentioning that this dealer currently only carries off-road trailers–RVs that are towed via another vehicle. 

We could say that the dealer may specialise in fifth-wheel trailers, but that’s not the case as its RV inventory is limited to one deisgn and two brands.

That said, we’re forgiving this limitation as we’re told that the trailers are of superior quality.

We’re also pleased to know that the trailers are lightweight yet built to withstand weathering, humidity, and dirt.

Conqueror also currently doesn’t offer door-to-door delivery and only allows in-store pickup. We actually think this is an advantage as customers will get to experience their RVs on the road.

And in case the camper trailers need repairs or seasonal maintenance, we’re pleased to report that this RV dealer offers services that turn RVs into well-oiled machines suitable for outdoors again.

It also gets better for this RV dealer as it has a convenient online booking form for clients looking to have their vehicles inspected, fixed, or maintained for their next trip.

One of the things we love and appreciate about East Rand Caravan World is that despite its location in Boksburg, it extends its products and services to Johannesburg and other nearby areas.

This may be a little issue in terms of booking services during peak season, but we’re letting it slide as we love that customers have a reliable RV dealer to avail of various services.

As for its RV selection, we like that the dealer carries motorhomes and off-road trailers. Pre-owned and brand-new options are available, so we’re praising this dealer for providing cost-efficient vehicles to its clientele.

On the downside, most of the motorhomes and trailers are small. While some of the RVs can fit a bed, most of them are only large enough to haul camping items.

That said, we’re somehow forgiving the “lack of space and size” the RVs East Rand Caravans carries as we think they’re tailored for people who prefer lighter trailers and want to sleep closer to nature.

Another favourable point of this RV dealer is that it has a shop selling various accessories, appliances, and spare parts.

We think it’s convenient that it carries items suitable for upgrading RVs into better outdoor vehicles and furnishing their interiors to make them more livable.

We’re just a little disappointed to hear that some of the staff aren’t that responsive to client queries even if they promised to email or call back.

It wouldn’t hurt if they work on their communication skills as many clients may need their assistance urgently.

Besides offering different RV models and components, East Rand Caravans also offers seasonal petrol vouchers to customers who will purchase trailers at a given schedule.

The vouchers cost R2,500, which we think will be enough to power an RV for a full trip and back.

One of the aspects we love about Pretoria Caravans & Outdoor is that it is an authorised dealer of noteworthy RV brands.

We visited the dealer and we’re quite impressed that it has brands such as Gypsy, Sprite, Jurgens, and GT Campers available in its inventory.

It’s worth mentioning that this dealer currently doesn’t carry motorhomes in its inventory. On the bright side, the trailers are compact yet spacious enough to fit a kitchen, a bed, and storage for essentials.

We also found teardrop trailers, which are smaller than most off-road trailers. These only have enough room for one sleeping area, but it seems many customers love them for their cosiness, towability, and design built to last against weathering.

We’re also giving it to Pretoria Caravans & Outdoor for having a shop that sells a selection of camping essentials, such as tents, caravan steps, foldable buckets, bug killers, rechargeable fans, and portable lights.

And if you need to maintenance services for your RV, this dealer also has a repair and fitment centre available. 

A strong point is that you can have your vehicle inspected and fix and get technicians to install appliances and other furnishings designed for your RV model.

We also appreciate the fact that Pretoria Caravans & Outdoor extends its services to various parts of Johannesburg, although we hope its technicians will be more transparent with their schedules.

Client mentioned that they traveled for hours to attend the dealer’s RV show, only to find out the times have been changed without prior notice.

Given that this dealer’s location is a little far, we think it wouldn’t hurt if they’ll provide updates about their operational hours and other event schedules to keep attendees from wasting time and missing anything.

If you’re after high-quality new and pre-loved caravan trailers, then we recommend visiting Silver Lakes Caravans.

We took the liberty of visiting the RV dealer’s shop in Pretoria and we’re pleased with the availability of different sizes and model of caravan trailers.

It may be a bummer that it doesn’t have motorhomes available, but we’re letting this limitation slide as the dealer has larger caravan models that have ample storage and space like self-propelling RVs.

As for the dealer’s pre-owned selection, we’re giving plus points as most of the caravans are in like-new condition. 

We love that affordable yet functional options are available for campers looking for budget-friendly trailers for their next trip.

That said, we’re just a little concerned with the age of many of the pre-owned caravans. We enquired about how old the RVs are and found that they’re at least 10 years old.

Sure, most of them are functional and maintained to run like they’re new, but their age may make it harder to find replacement parts–especially if they are obsolete or have been discontinued.

On a brighter note, we’ve heard that most of the pre-owned caravans are sourced from authorised dealers, so we’re giving it to this RV dealer for choosing trailers that can accommodate repairs and future add-ons.

Another aspect we love about Silver Lakes Caravans is that it has a list of camping sites in Johannesburg that are open to trailers. We appreciate that new RV owners and campers will know where to take their new vehicles.

An area we want the RV dealer to improve on is its customer service. It was disappointing to hear that some of the staff didn’t seem to be accommodating to customers before and after shopping.
