Dr. Deon Rossouw is one of the highly sought-after ENT surgeon and specialists in the area. He received his medical education at the University of Pretoria, and currently boasts 40 years of experience in the medical field.

Dr. Rossouw has had the opportunity to practice medicine in both the public and private sectors ever since he first opened his practice. 

We’re also impressed to hear that he has also completed training and worked in other countries, as well as in other South African regions.

We love the fact that this doctor is dedicated to lifelong learning and development. Dr. Rossouw is very involved in the local and global medical scenes, attending a variety of conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Their clinic is also equipped with complete and updated medical tools and equipment, which is a plus for us. 

Another feature we found notable is the clinic’s staff. Dr. Rossouw is supported by highly-trained nurses and anaesthetists who are often complimented by previous patients for their compassion and expertise.

The whole medical team, especially Dr. Rossouw, is also highly regarded for their excellent bedside manner. We love how they’re great at communication and letting patients settle into their care.

We love how after the tonsil removal procedure, the nurses are very hands-on with assisting patients in their recovery. It’s also great how the clinic’s staff are very accommodating in answering any questions. 

Keep in mind, nevertheless, that the clinic is quite in-demand and frequently filled to capacity. There are numerous complaints regarding the long wait times at the clinic as well.

According to reports, some patients had to wait for approximately two hours before the doctor could see them. We think this is very inconvenient for the patients, especially if they made an appointment ahead of time.

Dr. Khaleel Ismail is a multi-awarded ENT specialist and is one of the most popular experts when it comes to tonsillectomy. 

Some of his accolades include the Trubshaw Medal in 1997, the SA ORL Medal, the WA Mcintosh Medal in 2000, and the Michael and Jannie Miller Prize in 2001. 

He completed his specialisation at the University of the Witwatersrand and opened his own private clinic, The Head and Neck Centre, in 2001. 

However, he also holds clinics in Park Lane Clinic & WITS Donald Gordan Medical Centre and associate centres in Olivedale, Waterfall City, Benoni & Lenasia.

Dr. Ismail is also an active member of multiple renowned medical organisations, like the South African Medical and Dental Council, the South African Society of Otorhinolaryngologists, and the South African Medical Association.

Another thing we like about this clinic is it is run by high-performing professionals and the surgeon is supported by seasoned nurses and support staff. Their personnel is also often complimented by past patients for being accommodating and dedicated.

If there’s anything we think Dr. Ismail’s clinic needs to work on, it’s their communication with patients. There are multiple complaints about miscommunication, particularly about appointments. 

In line with this, there are also a few grumbles from previous patients about delayed appointments, which can be an inconvenience, especially for those with urgent cases.

ENT with Dr. B is a clinic run by Dr. Boipelo Tselapedi-Sekeitto, an esteemed  otorhinolaryngology specialist and seasoned head and neck surgeon. 

She accomplished her specialisation at the University of the Witwatersrand years after qualifying as a medical doctor. Moreover, she completed further training at the University of Western Ontario. 

Aside from her impressive background, we also selected Dr. B for her extensive wealth of experience. She’s worked in both public and private hospitals and is actually the current ENT department head at the Thelle Mogoerane Regional Hospital.

Dr. B is registered with the Health Professions Council Of South Africa (HPCSA) and she’s also affiliated with multiple established medical associations, including the South African Medical Association (SAMA), the South African ENT Society, and many more.

Another feature we like about this clinic is its top-notch facilities. We love how the space is cosy and well-kept. Their clinic is also equipped with proven safe and modern equipment, which we commend.

Take note, though, that we’ve heard from multiple patients that the clinic’s prices are above average. On top of these, there are also multiple grievances about their rates for treatments regularly changing, which can be confusing for patients. 

When it comes to patient care, one thing previous patients who underwent tonsil removal surgery found notable was the staff’s dedication to assisting them every step of the way. 

Patients appreciate how the clinic’s staff members are knowledgeable, hands-on, and friendly when attending to patients, which we commend.

Dr. Niel Sascha Stofberg is one of the most remarkable otorhinolaryngology specialists based in Johannesburg. His clinic is also one of the most- and highest-rated ENT centres too.

The first thing we found notable about this doctor is his strong and reputable educational foundation. 

He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree from the University of Stellenbosch, where he graduated top of his class.

Dr. Stofberg is also the recipient of the esteemed South African Society of Otorhinolaryngology medal in 2015. As if this wasn’t very impressive already, he’s actually only the fourth person to receive this award in the last ten years.

He performs multiple surgeries concerning ENT, including tonsillectomy, sinus surgery, tracheostomy, and septoplasty, among others. So far, all of his previous patients, probably hundreds, are more than satisfied with the surgical outcomes.

On top of this, we think what really sets Dr. Stofberg apart from his competitors is his relationship with people. The doctor is very highly regarded for his superb bedside manner.

He’s also apparently very good at handling children too, which is awesome. 

We also find it valuable how Dr. Stofberg is supported by highly-trained and knowledgeable nurses and receptionists. Patients find them very welcoming and helpful, which we like.

As expected from a highly-esteemed doctor, Dr. Stofberg is also highly in demand. As a result, it might be difficult to book an appointment with him.

Some of their past patients also have minor concerns about the long waiting time at the clinic, which is the unfortunate consequence of trying to accommodate everyone. 

Despite being young, Dr. Dean Gersun is an accomplished certified ear, nose, and throat physician. He earned his degree from the University of Witwatersrand in 2009, and in 2014, he finished his ENT training.

He also completed a fellowship training in otorhinolaryngology in 2018 at the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa, which we found notable.

Dr. Gersun specialises in tongue tie treatment and pediatric circumcision, but he has extensive experience treating various ENT conditions and performing surgeries, including tonsil removal. 

Because of his reassuring demeanour and excellent bedside manner, many people prefer Dr. Gersun’s medical services. We also put a high value on the doctor’s efforts to ensure patients’ comfort and safety.

Dr. Gersun’s staff are highly-trained, attentive, and overall great in handling patients, pre- and post-surgery, which we commend. As a team, they run a modest and well-kept clinic in Linksfield West.

Take note, though, that the clinic does not allow online appointment setting. Instead, patients need to drop by personally or set a booking via phone call.

Unfortunately, there are also reports from previous patients stating that it can be challenging to get in touch with the clinic’s staff for inquiries and concerns, which isn’t ideal.
