Satisfy your need for speed at the best go-karting tracks in Johannesburg!
Life is quick, isn’t it? One minute you’re dreaming of becoming the next Jody Scheckter after watching him bag the F1 World Championship in ‘79…the next you’re too old for living on the fast lane.
Well, that’s not the case in Johannesburg, where age is no barrier to hitting top speed at our go-karting tracks. Once you’re in a seat and the engine is revving, it’s go-time!
“Which track to hit?” is the only tricky part. Lucky for you, we spent the last weeks leaving our kiddos in the dust, so we have a pretty good idea which of Jozi’s tracks are the most electrifying.

Operating Hours:
- Mon – 11 am to 6 pm
- Tue to Thu – 11 am to 8 pm
- Fri to Sat – 11 am to 9 pm
- Sun – 11 am to 6 pm
It’s only proper that we roll out with Indy Kart, South Africa’s largest indoor karting venue. Our newbies and seasoned karters had a blast on the 475-metre track, featuring both tricky, technical areas and forgiving bits.
The Sodi RT8 go-karts are wicked fast, too, hitting speeds of about 72–80 km/h (45–50 mph)! Innovations such as adjustable pedals and the patented sliding system only make the F1-inspired model all the wilder.
Tip: The venue is 100% cashless. Bring your cards. |
Randburg Raceway Indoor Karting Track
From randburg_raceway
Address: 9 Samantha St, Strydompark, Randburg
Contact Details: +27 82 780 5115
Operating Hours: Mon to Fri – 10 am to 6 pm
You won’t be daft for taking the entire fam or crew to Randburg Raceway because it has an outdoor braai area and grassy picnic spots great for big group gatherings. (If you’re looking for more picnic spots, check these out!)
Jumping castles also await tots who can’t steer a wheel yet.
For the main event, the illuminated, solar-powered track itself is a pull, as it can handle six racers at a time, with each race clocking at 10 minutes.
Kart-wise, they offer three sizes: junior, teenage, and adult (for folks 1.2 metres tall and beyond). These come with full-face helmets and impact protection (and the race can be controlled by safety marshals), so go nuts!
Tip: After-hours racing is a possibility. Just make sure to pre-book (and to pre-pay). |
RBEK

Operating Hours:
- Mon – 11 am to 6 pm
- Tue to Thu – 11 am to 8 pm
- Fri to Sat – 11 am to 9 pm
- Sun – 11 am to 6 pm
I’ll be honest, RBEK’s 240-metre concrete track really pushed me. The lengthy straightaway tested my acceleration control, while the 7 tricky corners gave me a crash course in braking.
Would I do it again? Hell, yeah!
The max speed of 65 km/h (40 mph) alone is worth a return trip. Plus, the electric-operated track fits up to nine racers, ideal for friendly competitions with the gang.
There’s even a karting school for rookies wanting a head start.

JoziKart Go Karting | Cresta
From jozikart

Operating Hours:
- Tue to Thu – 12 am to 6 pm
- Fri – 12 pm to 8 pm
- Sat – 10 am to 5 pm
- Sun – 10 am to 5 pm
Offering championship-level Sodi arts and a 400-metre track, JoziKart zoomed its way to this list with ease.
The 270 cc karts were a breeze to pilot despite hitting a max speed of 45 km/h (28 mph). The frames were lightweight, and pedal adjustment wasn’t a problem at all.
Our mini-mes didn’t watch from the sidelines either. Those 50 cc karts for riders ages 5–9 did the trick.
Tip: You have to book if you’re stopping by on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. |
Supreme Karting

Operating Hours:

- Tue to Fri – 10 am to 6 pm
- Sat to Sun – 9 am to 6 pm
Supreme Karting is great for birthdays, team-buildings, bachelor parties, and other get-togethers. You see, the experience (and pricing) here revolves around endurance races, running from 1–2 hours and hosting up to four teams on the track.
“Arrive-and-drive” deals are still on the cards, though. Unlike most karting setups, payment for this is decided per lap, with a starting fee of R130 for 10 laps.
Tip: Driving to get here is convenient. The track is located in the lower-level parking area (entrance 2, right by the Spur entrance) of the mall. |
K1 Outdoor Karting
From adaptivesportfund
Address: East Rand Mall, Bentel Ave, Jansen Park, Boksburg
Contact Details: +27 64 807 6951
Operating Hours: Wed to Sun – 10 am to 5:30 pm
If you’re after open-air racing, K1 is the way to go. Their 250-metre track is one of Jozi’s most thrilling, thanks to its left-handers, right-handers, straights, and overtaking potential.
Better yet, the rates are on the lower end. A 5-minute drive, which often ticks 10-plus laps, is priced at R100 (card payment only).
The best part is that you can crank up the competitiveness here. K1 hosts grand prix and endurance-style events, and yes, winners get shiny medals!
Tip: Special experiences, like duo races, are announced on their Facebook, not the website. |

- Sun – 9 am to 6 pm
Epic Karting did live up to its name. For starters, the 450-metre tar track is one of the longest and largest our team has hit, wide enough at 6 metres to host 15 karts a race.
The top bits for me were the 9 corners and the Sodi karts’ max speed of 55 km/h (34 mph). They used a precise lap-time leaderboard to avoid “I was faster” debates.
Off-track fun was on the table as well. For instance, our non-racing friends and our kids wandered through the farm area and the dedicated play zone while we burned rubber.
Tip: They operate on a strict schedule, so arrive at the venue 30 minutes before your race. |
Kyalami Indoor Karting

Operating Hours:
- Mon to Thu – 11 am to 8 pm
- Fri to Sat – 9 am to 8 pm
- Sun – 10 am to 8 pm
Kayalami Indoor Karting is built for tactical racers. I say that because their 170-metre track features the “joker corner,” a sneaky shortcut offering quicker, albeit trickier, means of overtaking opponents.
The format variety also means you’ll rarely get bored. Think 1-plus hours of endurance racing, a tourney-style grand prix, casual arrive and drive sessions, and the invitation-only Super League experience.
Tip: Get an advantage by learning about the track first. Study this map. |
Xtreme Indoor Karting @ Cedar Square
From cedar_square
Address: Upper basement parking, Cedar Square Mall, Cedar Rd & Willow Ave, Fourways
Contact Details: +27 11 465 0088
Operating Hours:
- Tue to Fri – 11 am to 7 pm
- Sat – 9 am to 7 pm
- Sun – 9 am to 5 pm
Fast-paced yet approachable, Xtreme Indoor Karting doesn’t forget about casual riders. Still, the 300-metre track is good news for adrenaline junkies, chiefly those eager for an F1-style showdown on Sodi karts.
Personally, the Ultimate Grand Prix takes the cake if we’re talking about the most electrifying format here. It’s group-based and can last up to 35 minutes, with safety briefing and quick lessons included in the deal.
The team-relay (5–6 groups) session isn’t a dodgy pick, though. Sure, you have to book as a crew, but racing for 60–120 minutes sounds fire!
Tip: One-on-one coaching sessions are available, but bookings are a must. |
Compu-Kart
From compukartraceway
Address: Stoneridge Centre, Hereford Rd & Modderfontein Rd, Greenstone Park, Lethabong
Contact Details: +27 11 609 0076
Operating Hours:
- Mon – 1 pm to 9 pm
- Tue to Thu – 11 am to 9 pm
- Fri to Sat – 10 am to 10 pm
- Sun – 10 am to 8 pm
At 30 years of age, Compu-Kart is yet to show any sign of slowing down. Heck, they even have 50 cc karts now to match the F1-inspired tracks!
They have two tracks, one in Stoneridge Centre and another in Cradlestone Mall. The former is “flowy” and fit for overtaking, while the latter is a 501-metre beast with a roller coaster-style layout, technical hairpins, and high-speed straights.
One thing they have in common: sweet, sweet group deals! Weekly promos, exclusive package deals for 10–50 drivers, last-minute price cuts, and Tuesday GP discounts are up for grabs.
Tip: They close an hour earlier in the winter months. Factor that when scheduling. |
Buggy Parks

Operating Hours:
- Mon – 1 pm to 9 pm
- Tue to Thu – 11 am to 9 pm
- Fri to Sat – 10 am to 10 pm
- Sun – 10 am to 8 pm
It should be obvious that we have no hate for city circuits. That said, tearing it through Buggy Parks’ wilderness in a 200 cc kart is often the wilder experience.
About 40 minutes from Jozi, races here are set on open-air dirt tracks. This gives you more distance to cover, around 10 to 30 laps, which span 2–6 km of off-road thrills.
To top it off, you have zip lines and paintball matches waiting after the race!
Tip: They’re not shy about discounts. You’ll find the latest ones here. |
