The Foundation Clinic, established in 2001, offers a residential programme starting with an initial 21 days. The treatment combines cognitive behavioural theory, systemic coaching, and a humanistic approach.

Long-term programmes can extend up to 12 months, tailored to individual needs, along with an initial detox period and after-care support.

Clients receive individual therapy and coaching, group education, and process sessions. There’s also a helpful reintegration programme to help individuals transition to a life of independence.

The fee structure here is on the pricier spectrum, though. A six-week in-patient treatment costs R92,400, with a private room available at $1,450 per day.

Changes Addiction Rehab offers a comprehensive range of services. In addition to inpatient treatment and a 12-step recovery programme, it provides addiction education sessions for patients and their families, along with cognitive behavioural and other therapies.

The cost of a 21-day inpatient program at Changes Rehab typically ranges from R15,000 to R30,000, depending on the specific medical aid coverage. 

Its person-centred, 12-step, abstinence-based model is delivered by an experienced clinical team. The centre also provides residential detox and addiction treatment with 24-hour nursing and accepts medical aid payments.

What’s even more impressive is its Halfway House Recovery Programme, with two facilities in Johannesburg for transitional living homes for individuals committed to sobriety.

It’s reassuring when the founder of a rehab centre has firsthand experience with addiction. Such is the case with Lizzie Butler, Founder & Executive Director of Silver Linings Sober Living, who struggled with addiction for many years.

Today, she’s a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counsellor and has been working in the substance abuse industry since 2017. Together with her live-in team, they conduct personalised experience treatments along with a 12-step support programme.

It has a great location, too. Silver Linings is conveniently located near AA, CA, and NA meetings, as well as churches, shopping malls, bus routes, and major highways. 

Former patients often find their way back to the facility, not as repeat clients, but to offer support for recovering patients. But while sober living homes with a structured support system are available, detox programmes are not part of its offerings.

Wedge Garden’s Full Circle Recovery Programme includes detoxification, in-house treatment, family sessions, family accommodation, a halfway house, aftercare services, and outreach programmes. 

The treatment is quite exhaustive here. It’s divided into assessment, intervention, and reintegration phases, conducted in tranquil surroundings to ensure patient comfort. Patients can use a pool room, media centre, library, gym, and other amenities at leisure.

The facility also recognises the important role of the family being with their loved one during this trying time. Family members and significant others have access to self-contained accommodation to continuously support the therapy process.

The cost for its 28-day in-patient programme is approximately R21,000. The team also provides longer-term programmes, such as a three-month programme for around R63,000.
