5 Recommended Specialists for Hymenoplasty Surgery in Johannesburg

5 Recommended Specialists for Hymenoplasty Surgery in Johannesburg

Credibility – We chose clinics with credible and experienced doctors. We also looked at their accreditations and certifications, if any.

Results – Our top priority is the quality of service these clinics are able to provide. We assessed previous patients’ satisfaction with the results their surgery produced.

Pricing – Aesthetic surgeries are often not covered by medical aids, so you would really need to prepare to shoulder the costs of the procedure. We made sure that the clinics we selected have reasonable pricing for their services.

Patient care – We also looked at how these clinics treat their patients before and after their procedures. We gave plus points to those that have superb post-surgery and recovery care.

Pros

  • Led by a renowned plastic surgeon
  • Supported by medical professionals
  • Member of the American Plastic Surgeon’s Association and ISAPS
  • Uses state-of-the-art equipment

Cons

  • Rare reports of poor procedure results
  • Costly

Dr. Fayman is one of South Africa’s renowned plastic surgeons. He specialises in breast surgery, feature reconstruction, body remodelling, including genital enhancement, and procedures for natural-looking enhancements.

He’s a licenced plastic and reconstructive surgeon and is an accredited member of the American Plastic Surgeon’s Association and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS).

We think it’s awesome that Dr. Fayman is also very active in the academic field and regularly contributes to medical journals. We like that he’s committed to learning and applies research to the techniques he uses.

Dr. Fayman works in the clinic in Rosebank hospital with two more medical professionals who are a specialist anaesthetist and a general practice manageress.

It’s a big plus for us that their clinic has clean facilities and state-of-the-art medical equipment. We love how the clinic ensures patients that all equipment and materials are safe to use.

Their post-surgical care is commended by previous patients, too. We’re told Dr. Fayman’s staff were patient and eager to make sure patients feel comfortable after the procedure.

Although for different procedures offered by the clinic, it’s also worth mentioning that there were a few patients who were dissatisfied with the outcomes of their surgeries.

Thankfully, management was prompt to address the issue and offer corrective surgery, which we commend.

Lastly, there are a handful of complaints regarding Dr. Fayman’s expensive rates for their services.

Pros

  • Run by an esteemed surgeon
  • Recognised member of HPCSA
  • Great bedside manner and post-surgery care

Cons

  • No online appointment setting
  • Unresponsive

Papillon Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery is a well-known beauty and plastic surgery clinic in Johannesburg. The clinic is led by Dr. Nkhensani Chauke-Malinga, a distinguished plastic and reconstructive surgeon.

The clinic provides a number of both surgical and non-surgical procedures designed to let individuals achieve their physical goals and feel better about themselves.

They’re a credible and top-level clinic, as well as a recognised member of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

We love that Dr. Chauke-Malinga is an expert when it comes to several types of surgeries involving the face, breast, abdomen, genital, skin, and hand, as well as body contouring procedures.

Dr. Chauke-Malinga is highly commended for her bedside manner. Many of her previous patients compliment her for her warm approach, regardless of the intended medical procedure.

Patients also appreciate how Dr. Chauke-Malinga made sure they were well-informed every step of the way. As a result, patients felt safe and assured before and even during the operation.

The same goes for the clinic’s post-surgery care. Aside from the informative guides, Papillon Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery’s staff regularly checks on patients in recovery.

Sometimes, even Dr. Chauke-Malinga herself answers patients’ questions about pain management and recovery, which we think is a great practice.

We noticed that their customer service is unresponsive towards new or prospective patients’ inquiries about procedures offered and their price quotation, though.

We’re also concerned that because of the clinic’s inactiveness in answering emails and phone calls, there are some who aren’t able to book an appointment.

This is especially concerning, considering that Papillon Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery does not have online appointment setting. Interested individuals would have to either drop by or give them a ring.

Pros

  • Acclaimed member of the Royal College of Surgeons in England
  • Author of several peer-reviewed medical journals
  • Uses modern surgical techniques
  • Furnished with advanced medical technology

Cons

  • Post-operation care could be improved
  • Poor patient communication

Young but skilled, Dr. Chrysis Sofianos is one of the leading plastic and reconstructive surgeons in South Africa. He’s looked up to for his strong educational background and impressive performance.

Dr. Sofianos underwent specialised training in breast, lower limb, head and neck, and hand surgery in addition to earning a Master of Science in Surgical Sciences from the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom.

The fact that he’s also very active in the academe as a contributor to several peer-reviewed medical journals further impresses us. We think his experience and apparent thirst for knowledge allow patients to feel assured in his hands.

His clinic is well known for offering premium cosmetic operations at affordable prices. You’ll find a long list of offered procedures on their website, including genital reconstruction.

We love that they practise modern surgical techniques and their clinic is furnished with advanced medical equipment.

While Dr. Chrysis Sofiano’s workmanship is highly-commended by previous patients, we’re a bit iffy about the clinic’s post-surgery patient care.

We’re told there are cases where patients who are experiencing concerning pain from their procedures are seemingly overlooked by the doctor, which for us is appalling.

To add, there are also several complaints about Dr. Chrysis Sofiano’s representatives being difficult to reach out to for inquiries and distress calls.

Pros

  • Registered gynaecologist with international experience
  • Has 25 years of experience
  • Founder and president of the South African Aesthetic Gynaecology Society
  • Acclaimed medical journal contributor

Cons

  • Reports on delayed responses
  • Expensive

Next on our list is Dr. Natalia Novikova’s clinic. She’s one of South Africa’s top-notch Gynaecologists and Endoscopic Surgeons currently practising in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

The first thing that impressed us was Dr. Novikova’s impressive educational and professional background. Originally from Kiev, Ukraine, she took up her medical education at National Medical University.

Dr. Novikova also has a master’s degree from the University of Sydney and a PhD from the National Medical University. Moreover, she completed specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Centre of Excellence in Australia.

She worked in several hospitals in South Africa, Australia, and London but decided to settle in SA. Dr. Novikova is also a seasoned medical instructor who has handled medical students, junior doctors and specialists in training.

With her breadth of experience and international exposure, Dr. Novikova became one of the leading gynaecology specialists in the area. Impressively, she’s also the founder and president of the South African Aesthetic Gynaecology Society.

Presently, she offers medical and aesthetic gynae procedures, including several genital procedures, in her clinic in Melrose.

Patients appreciate how the clinic is clean and well-maintained. They also use updated medical equipment and safe-for-use materials, which we commend.

Take note, though, that their pricing for surgical procedures is more expensive compared to other clinics.

Lastly, there are a number of complaints regarding the clinic’s customer service. Patients shared with us their frustration after their inquiries and grumbles were not attended to.

Pros

  • Active member of the academe
  • Member of the APRSSA and HPCSA
  • Free second consultation before surgery
  • Reasonable rates

Cons

  • Some reports on poor surgical outcomes
  • Inactive patient support

Dr. Gabriel Doucas Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon is one of the city’s most renowned and popular plastic surgery clinics.

The clinic is led by Dr. Gabriel Doucas, a graduate of Free State University with a bachelor’s degree in medicine and in surgery.

In addition, he’s also a Fellow of the South African College of Orthopaedic Surgery through the University of the Witwatersrand.

Dr. Doucas is also an accredited member of the South African Association of Plastic Surgeons (APRSSA) and the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

Another thing we found notable about this doctor is he’s also an active member in the field of medical education. He’s actually one of the members of the editorial board of a medical journal, which is impressive.

We included this clinic on our list because we love Dr. Doucas’ approach to providing patient care. He comes up with comprehensive and personalised care before and after surgery, and this is unique to every patient.

Dr. Doucas’ clinic implements a rule where all patients have to go through two consultations before proceeding with surgery. This is to give the patients time to ask all their questions before diving in.

What’s awesome is, the second consultation for each patient is free of charge. Previous patients also appreciate the clinic’s reasonable rates for their services.

As for the doctor’s performance, we are a bit skeptical after hearing several patients share their dissatisfaction with the results of their procedures.

Although these reports aren’t particular for hymenoplasty, it would be wise to do some research first before committing to this clinic.

Lastly, we are dispirited to hear complaints about Dr. Doucas’ clinic representatives being inactive in assisting both potential patients and those in recovery.

We hope they can address this issue and hire more trained personnel to handle communication with patients and interested individuals.
