In all of South Africa, Skin Renewal is one of the most reputable and sought-after cosmetic dermatology and aesthetic medicine practices. They currently operate 18 clinics across the country and one of their strongest assets is their credibility.

Skin Renewal is also widely preferred by patients for its brilliant personnel. With more than 23 doctors, they have a sizable, skilled team who are all experts in aesthetic medicine.

Additionally, the team of doctors is assisted by therapists, nurses, and support staff that are highly qualified.

Previous patients have high praise for their medical staff for the staff’s knowledge and demeanour. They shared with us their appreciation for their doctors for making every effort to keep them informed and at ease, even while they were recovering.

Another feature we love about this clinic is they’re very transparent when it comes to pricing. Unlike other clinics where staff will tell you that their services are on a case-to-case basis, Skin Renewal’s rates are readily available on their website.

Moreover, their service rates are reasonably within the market average, which is awesome.

While not particularly about their lip filler treatments, it’s worth mentioning that there are a few patients who are dissatisfied with the outcomes of their treatment. 

Specifically, we’re told there are cases where Botox patients discover wrinkles and fine lines on their faces shortly after their shots, which is disappointing.

Lastly, there are also minor complaints about Skin Renewal’s weak customer service. We’re disheartened to hear that their doctors and staff can be unresponsive, especially when patients experience poor treatment outcomes.

Next on our list is Ameliore Wellness & Aesthetics, a boutique wellness and aesthetics clinic in Johannesburg. They offer a long list of beauty and wellness treatments for the skin, face, and body.

They also have an in-house spa and a wellness centre that offers IV drips, and integrative medicine. The clinic is most popular for lip filler treatments, though.

Ameliore Wellness & Aesthetics is run by two accredited and skilled aesthetic doctors, Dr. Jabaar and Dr. Jacobs. They’re co-owners of the clinic and are both general practitioners who specialise in aesthetic medicine.

The doctors are also supported by a practice manager, who has a decade’s worth of experience in the aesthetic medical field. She also has a certificate in beauty therapy, skincare, and health and nutrition, which we think is awesome.

Take note, though, that the clinic’s team is quite small and can get overwhelmed during busy days. We suggest booking an appointment in advance to make sure you get attended to.

Ameliore Wellness & Aesthetics is quite known for providing premium quality care to its patients at a reasonable price. You’d need to call in to ask for their price quotes, though.

If there’s anything the clinic needs to improve on, it’s their customer service. 

While the quality of their assistance is commendable, there are a number of grumbles from potential customers about the clinic representative’s inactiveness in attending to their questions and concerns.

We hope the clinic can address this issue and expand their team with more trained professionals to provide better service.

Anti-Aging Art is a distinctive medical aesthetics facility in Houghton, JHB. The facility specialises in minimally invasive anti-aging and aesthetic procedures, offering cosmetic procedures for the body, face, and hair. 

Additionally, physiotherapy and holistic health care are offered by the clinic.

Anti-Aging Art is considered a premium clinic with its world-class facilities and state-of-the-art equipment. We’re told their services are world-class too, which is awesome.

However, deluxe treatment comes at a high price. Before you book your appointment, consider that Anti-Aging Art’s rates for their medical aesthetic treatments are more expensive than their competitors. 

Dr. Reza leads Anti-Aging Art as the clinic’s director. They’re a well-known specialist in aesthetic medicine and have impressive credentials and professional backgrounds, which impressed us.

In fact, Dr. Reza is the assigned representative for Hyalual in South Africa. Hyalual is an esteemed innovative company based in Switzerland that works in the manufacturing and distribution of high-quality and scientifically-backed skincare and cosmetic products.

Their work is focused on the scientific development of services and treatments for anti-ageing therapy, aesthetic medicine, rejuvenation, correction, and restoration of the skin. 

Anti-Aging Art offers a variety of dermal filler treatments. For lips, the clinic provides solutions for lip augmentation, vermillion border, oral commissures, and perioral lines.

We love how relevant information about these treatments is readily available on the clinic’s website. Furthermore, the doctors at Anti-Aging Art are approachable and great at communicating with their patients. 

There are several grumbles about Anti-Aging Art’s support personnel, though. Some patients experienced dealing with representatives with a snotty attitude, which threw them off. 

Dr. Saul Braun is a distinguished plastic and reconstructive surgeon who started his medical practice about 40 years ago. He currently runs a specialist plastic and reconstructive clinic at the Netcare Rosebank Hospital.

The clinic is preferred by patients because of Dr. Braun’s admirable background and strong professional network. 

He’s actually currently appointed as the Clinical Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of the Witwatersrand. 

On top of that, he’s a recognised member of various multinational organisations like the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Lip augmentation is one of the most common treatments availed at the clinic. Aside from the great results, patients are impressed with the doctor’s apparent expertise and excellent bedside manner. 

They appreciate Dr. Braun’s efforts to make sure patients are informed and comfortable before any procedure. Dr. Braun’s clinic is also well-staffed, and the doctor is supported by accredited anaesthetists and skilled personnel.

We also love how the clinic has ample space and is well-kept. This is great because the clinic is often very busy and filled with patients, especially because of their shorter clinic hours. 

Dr. Braun’s efforts to keep up with the latest medical equipment, as well as treatments and techniques in cosmetic surgery, are also very obvious.

As a well-connected professional, most of Dr. Braun’s patients are foreigners who travel to South Africa for “cheaper” cosmetic treatments. Thus, the clinic’s pricing for most of its services is higher than competitors. 

Lightsculpt is a distinguished clinic that specialises in non- and minimally invasive medical cosmetic treatments. The clinic is divided into sub-branches, depending on what they treat: skin, body, mind, and smile.

One of the best features of this clinic is its patient-centred approach. Their doctors and staff are very attentive and hands-on with their patients’ cases, and patients really appreciate that.

Patients are assured that all treatments are backed by scientific research, are proven safe, and are updated. Their clinics are also furnished with state-of-the-art medical equipment.

It’s also a big plus for us that the clinic is well-staffed and is run by experienced aesthetic medical professionals. The team of support staff is highly trained and has commendable bedside manners.

Lightsculpt is also highly-sought after for its solid track record and credibility. The clinic is partnered with several major international medical cosmetics brands such as Lamelle, Dermaquest, and Neostrata, which we think is impressive.

We love how Lightsculpt clinic also offers virtual consultations, which we think is very convenient for patients who are reluctant to drop by the clinic. 

The consultation fee ranges from R 450 to R 650, which will be deducted from the treatment the patient purchases.

There are a handful of minor complaints about treatment outcomes, although, thankfully, not specifically for lip filler treatments. There are some patients who experienced inflammation and skin pigmentation after availing of a facial peel from the clinic.

We think Lightsculpt’s customer service can be improved too. While their in-clinic service is highly commended, there are several grumbles about the unresponsiveness of the clinic’s representatives to patients’ enquiries and complaints.
