The Best Rooftop Bars in Cape Town Locals Can’t Get Enough Of

Cape Town’s rooftop bars are my go-to when I want to mix things up—literally and figuratively. Whether it’s sipping cocktails at sunset, brunching with a view, or pretending to work while soaking in the scenery, these spots do it for me.

Feeling fancy or just want to chill? There’s a rooftop bar for both!

I’ve listed some of the best in town, so you can choose your next favourite hangout with the city’s sea views as your backdrop.

Operating Hours:

  • Open daily – 4 PM to 10 PM

14 Stories Rooftop Bar is on the 14th floor of the SunSquare Cape Town City Bowl hotel, so it’s easy to see why it’s called 14 Stories. The views up there are amazing! You can see Table Mountain, Signal Hill, and the V&A Waterfront.

When I visited, I really liked the mix of indoor and outdoor spaces. There’s a cosy indoor lounge with big windows, and outside, there’s a terrace that wraps around the building.

I tried their Strawberry Explosion, a gin cocktail with strawberries and lemonade, which was nice for watching the sunset. The seafood basket, with calamari, prawn risotto balls, and hake goujons, paired well with the drinks.

Pro Tip:
There’s an indoor pool with sun loungers, but that’s only for hotel guests, so you might want to stay there if you’re interested in using it.
