JC Upholstery is a reputable, family-run upholstery service with branches all around the country and over two decades of service. I was particularly impressed by their good craftsmanship and affordable prices.

 

They use specialised machinery and advanced upholstery techniques, such as skiving and fabric manipulation.

I approached JC Upholstery for some help regarding this antique sofa I found for a good price. They successfully replaced the ratty old leather covers on the seat with full-grain cowhide leather that was smooth and comfortable. It felt like a brand new sofa, and it’s a great centrepiece for my living room! 

That being said, there were some issues. I had trouble communicating with the team after the free consultation and received the sofa a day after it was promised.

Sagambe Upholsterers impressed me with their professionalism, dedication to upholstery and repair, and their relatively reasonable prices. What really put them on the table for me was that their approach to furniture work extended beyond upholstery, and that they had a dedicated service towards furniture assembly and repair

While thrifting for my new house, I found this cheap armchair and ottoman combo, which would’ve looked great in my study. Unfortunately, both pieces lacked a few legs, had a ton of scratches on the linen covering, and the armchair had a slightly bent backrest from years of wear and tear. 

I contacted Sagambe, and I was deeply impressed by how they were able to not only replace the linen covering with a new, fresh and colourful linen design that matched my room, but even got to repair the legs and backrest. 

I even made a special request to have a second layer of woven fabric underneath the chair, just in case my cat wanted to put his paws on it, and they had it done! 

Unfortunately, there were some snags, particularly with the service time. While I can understand that a task like mine was a little more laborious, it was still inconvenient to have received the chair and ottoman a few days after their deadline.

Affordable quote, excellent service and workmanship

We had a broken couch and some counter chairs that looked really shabby. Sagambe Upholsterers came to our house, looked at the couch and chairs and brought material samples for reupholstering the counter chairs.

After accepting the very affordable quote, Sagambe Upholsterers collected the furniture and worked their magic.

Excellent service, workmanship and professional from beginning to end.

Up-Cycled Upholsterers stands out from the competition with its focus on repairing and refurbishing antique furniture. Their portfolio shows repairs of chairs and sofas from even more than 50 years ago!

A friend of mine recommended them to me for my furniture thrifting adventures. They had repaired an old dining room set, which was a family heirloom, and looking at the before and after pictures blew my mind! 

The chairs were worn down, ratty, and splintery from years of use, children playing, and dogs biting them. The upholsterers sanded them down, replaced the cushions with newer linen and cotton fabrics that still retained the vintage look and feel, and even reapplied the varnish. 

Up-Cycled really brought them back to life. At a very fast time frame of 4 days to boot! 

However, the fact that they specialise in reupholstering vintage furniture means that their prices will be relatively higher than the competition. While this makes sense, since they’d need more specialised tools, their prices were out of my range. 

A small bonus, though, is that their affectionately titled PAWject manager Maya, the company’s very cute dog, might tag along to the consultation and upholstery process.

Lifestyle Upholstery, also known as Leroy Designs, is notable for its more extensive and unique list of upholstery and repair options. 

Alongside standard upholstery repair options, they offer upholstery for corporate furniture (such as waiting benches at airports and hospitals), boat upholstery, and custom-tailored slip covers. 

My grandfather used to be a fisherman, and he owns this nice fishing boat with cushioned seats. Unfortunately, due to years of wear and tear, alongside exposure to sunlight and saltwater, they’ve been damaged. 

I contacted the upholsterer on my grandpa’s behalf in the hopes of restoring the seats and making them more durable. Unfortunately, I was met with a lot of delays and a startling lack of communication in their services, from booking to the actual repairs themselves.

It took around a month in total for the whole process to be done, which was frustrating for me and my grandfather.

That being said, once the repairs were done, we found that they had delivered on their promise of using high-quality vinyl and leather to repair the boat’s seats. They were fitted with a durable, comfortable memory foam, and even months later, they still haven’t lost their shine. 

While the delays were frustrating, given the quality they promise, it might be worth looking into Lifestyle Upholstery for your upholstery needs.

Ursula’s Re-Upholstery and Repair is notable in that they specialise in office and lounge furniture, making them a great choice for customers who run their own offices or hotel spaces. 

Their customer service and speedy delivery and work times make them a good choice for anyone in a pinch to have their furniture repaired. 

My cousin, a lawyer, hired Ursula’s Re-Upholstery to fix up the old leather couches and chairs he needed for his small law firm, and he was impressed by their responsiveness to his queries and by the free consultation. 

He also appreciated how fast they were in the upholstery and repair process, and in around 3 days, he managed to turn his small office into a nice, professional-looking space. 

He did complain, however, that after a year, the leather on some of the chairs had started to crack and peel off after prolonged use. This isn’t typical for real leather, and it cost him yet more money to have it repaired.
