The Glass Merchants is a company you can rely on for aluminium window repairs in Johannesburg. When my grandparents needed to repair theirs, the company was very hands-on with the whole project. 

A highlight of the experience was the team’s trip outside Johannesburg to repair my elderly grandparents’ windows. Their service covers all towns in the Gauteng Region.

They offer various window services, including putty glazing, glass replacements, and fixing jammed sliders. Their standard glass is 4-mm thick but can be upgraded to 6.38-mm laminated shatterproof glass.

The only thing my grandparents were iffy about was that it took them a while to get back on their initial query. They don’t offer emergency repairs, and because my grandparents needed to get their windows sealed for safety, this was a letdown. 

The company, however, responded the next day and arrived shortly after to complete the repairs. No complaints there!

If you’re looking for a window repair company that can get the job done in a jiffy, I recommend Fast Glass. As the name suggests, their goal is to complete quality window repairs as fast as possible, and they deliver in that regard. 

The company is a member of the South African Glass and Glazing Association and the Building Industry Bargaining Council, so they have a large network of suppliers for their glass, steel, aluminium, and metal products. 

You can also order products from them if you need only certain parts for your windows, but I highly recommend hiring them to install them because they’ve worked on different kinds of windows for many years. 

My only complaint is their slow response to queries, especially for quotes and after-sales requests. They complete the job quickly but need to improve customer communication and satisfaction.

When it comes to window repairs, it’s always useful to know a company that can repair car windows, too. Car windows are susceptible to damage due to bad weather or wear and tear, and I recommend NST Auto Glass to take a look at their condition. 

Their auto repair expertise is evident in their meticulous work and quality. They specialise in tempered and laminated glass, which, though excellent, can be pricey.

While their workmanship is unquestionable, more options would be beneficial, especially for different car models.

The benefit is upgraded safety and style for your car windows and windshields, as they are smash-resistant and more durable than regular types.

And because they specialise in car window repairs, they’re not a company I’d recommend for building windows. It’s still nice to know you have an expert to call in case your car windows break!

Linden Glass Works has been in the window and glass repair services for over 25 years, making them a go-to for residents living in the Randburg area. A few of the services they offer are safety glass installations, window glazing, and replacements.

They’re more known in town for their safety glass and glazing services, though, but the same expert technicians are also well-versed in repairing broken window panes and frames. 

They’re also well-versed in installing all sorts of window types, from aluminium to steel, as well as custom glass pane sizes. They can even cut them according to your preferences and needs if you need them to! 

Reaching them can be difficult unless you visit their store near Delta Park, as phone customer service can be rude. Their website is also outdated, so you can’t refer to it for relevant info.

For custom window repairs, visit their store (where they’ve operated since 1996!).
