From my experience, Nudo Hair Lab doesn’t betray their ‘premium but judgment-free’ brand. The salon looks luxe, and the atmosphere was warm when I stopped by.

What impresses me most is that each stylist sticks to their lane, no jack-of-all-trades business. I had Sume sort out a colour correction, and when I went back for extensions, Tilly handled it well.

If you ask me, though, it’s balayage where they truly excel. Charice made my colours melt into each other without harsh lines, and fellow clients sang the same song. She’s even a good laugh without going over the top.

The wait time isn’t that long either. In my case, it was just around 15–20 minutes, likely because they usually have 6 stylists around.

The downside is that they shut down on Sundays. Bundles and promotional offers are also rare.

Price-wise, they’re premium, but it’s cost-efficient. The products alone are high-end, especially their extensions from Mayne International.

First off, they provided us with a free consultation that’s not a half-baked chat. We picked up useful tips on how to style or treat our hair best.

We also weren’t left hanging. Post-consultation, the salon staff still shared some tips and even jokes while we waited.

As for service range, the essentials are all there—haircuts, colouring, braiding, extensions, you get it.

Prices don’t go beyond Pretoria’s standard either. What’s more, they roll out discounts, often chopping 20% off services like extensions.

Moreover, the joint is clean, and parking is available.

The catch? Their Thursday to Saturday schedule is usually tight, so we’d suggest swinging between Monday and Wednesday.

Palladium Hair Company might be what you’re seeking if you prefer established shops. Running since 1997 and flexing clout in show business, it’s this list’s biggest.

True to form, their offerings are lush, starting with their use of high-end products like Oribe, an award-winning hairstyling company.

The stylists are clued up, too. We and other clients appreciate how the staff explain every ingredient before applying it.

You’ll normally be treated like royalty as well. Services kick off with a bespoke consultation, and there are free massages and bevvies, chiefly coffee and even wine.

Naturally, they’re for the minted. Ladies’ cuts, for example, will cost you about ZAR 600–820.

No operations on Sundays either, so plan ahead.

On the plus side, Palladium’s range is no joke at about 20-plus offerings, including posh micro keratin treatments (for fixing damaged hair) and hairstyling for children.

Stijl Hair Lounge might be one of the mellowest salons in Pretoria. Every time we’ve popped in, the staff have been warm, cracking banter without it feeling like a mandatory put-on.

Honestly, it often feels like we’re chilling in a cafe. Well, no shocker there, as there’s an actual cafe section where you can sip on cappuccino and even whiskey. It’s separate, so getting hair on your bev is unlikely.

When it comes to services, they tick the essentials, which for us are offerings under styling, cuts, treatments, and colouring. They’re also dab hands at styling wedding hair.

Kids and students are looked after too, with pricing tweaked especially for them.

That said, Stijl’s regular fees can dent your savings. One client told us they paid ZAR 2,090 for colouring alone.

And, like most entries, they’re closed on Sundays. What’s worse is that they’re often jammed, so setting an appointment through a call is recommended.

We didn’t spot a dud product at Glao Hair and Beauty Salon. We visited three times, and the shelves were always stocked with quality brands like L’Oréal and Kérastase during that period.

As for prices, we were offered something that made sense, though it’s worth noting that quotes, like the services, are personalised.

Speaking of the services, the salon has the basics down. Sweetening the deal are perks such as free massages, juices, coffee, or hot chocolate.

Now, in terms of ‘edge,’ this one has hair restoration treatments that most competitors here don’t provide. An example is their non-invasive laser therapy for stimulating follicles.

Consultations for the said treatments also cost zero.

However, we did hear a few complaints about stylists being late for more than an hour. It also wouldn’t hurt if they start tossing some promos or bundles, given that they do brows and lashes, too.
