Pros
- Well-staffed
- Wide range of services
- Offers both live-in and travelling in-home care
- Provides care for all ages
- Nurses are registered and highly trained
Cons
- Costly
- Difficult to reach representatives
Nurses on the move is a specialised care provider that has multiple branches all over South Africa. Presently, they’re one of the leading home health care service providers in Johannesburg.
They’re quite popular for their top-notch nurses, and we think this is also one of their top assets as a business. They have over 240 nurses employed, and all are registered and highly trained.
We love that their most experienced nurses and carers are also heavily involved in developing patient-centred care plans and assessments, and training new caregivers.
The in-home care assessment these nurses come up with are very informative and help provide a better look into each patient’s needs. We think this good practice greatly influences the service quality they provide.
Another thing we love about Nurses on the move is they’re very capable and adaptable. They have care programmes for all ages, which is a plus for us.
Moreover, we like that their care services are very flexible. Nurses on the move offers several types of healthcare services, including occupational therapy, mobility training, and pain management.
Their healthcare personnel are trained to provide care for the disabled, frail care, Alzheimer’s and dementia patient care, post-operative care, and COVID-19 patient care.
We also appreciate that families can either opt for a live-in professional nurse or choose travelling in-home care. This way, they’re able to factor in the patient’s needs as well as their budget for home health care.
Take note, though, that their high-quality care comes at a price, which we’re told is quite higher than other home health care service providers in the city. Make sure to ask about their rates if you decide to reach out.
It’s also a plus for us how easy it is to book an appointment, which you can complete within a couple of minutes through their website. However, there are a handful of complaints regarding the company’s unresponsiveness towards clients’ questions.

Pros
- Long list of specialised care services
- Good patient monitoring
- Responsive client support
Cons
- Inconsistent service quality
- Online booking is not available
The first feature we like about Enerjoy Home Care is their holistic approach to patient care. Their nurses and caregivers are highly commended by previous patients for their commitment to caregiving and compassion towards their patients.
We think what sets this home health care service provider apart is their dedication to addressing the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of their patients.
Enerjoy Home Care provides a broad range of services to all ages, including babies and infants. Their caregivers are also trained based on different care programmes and the needs of their patients.
The specialised care programmes available are frail care, end-of-life care, physical disability care, baby and child care, neurological care, post-operative recovery care, and non-medical care.
Another thing we like about Enerjoy Home Care is how great they are in patient monitoring. Their management team regularly checks in on each patient, and even drops by on-site to make sure everything is going well.
Their client support is superb too! We like that Enerjoy Home Care’s representatives are professional, friendly, and prompt to respond to questions and especially complaints.
Previous clients shared with us how it was easy to communicate with Enerjoy Home Care’s people, which made the whole process easier. To reach out, you can just send them a message through their Facebook page or give them a call.
We would’ve preferred it, though, if Enerjoy Home Care allowed online appointment setting through their website, as it would be easier and more efficient.
Lastly, we have some concerns regarding the inconsistency in the quality of service Enerjoy Home Care’s caregivers provide.
We’re dismayed to hear that there are a handful of grievances regarding some nurses who seem dismissive, disinterested, and in a rush to go home.
Some patients also complained about how their assigned nurse keeps changing, which can be disruptive and confusing.

Pros
- Has been in business since 2006
- Wide range of specialised care programmes
- Offers affordable home care services
- Also offers training courses for caregivers
Cons
- Reports on having poorly trained staff
- Faulty system
SA Nanny is one of Johannesburg’s first home health care service providers. They were established in 2006 and have provided care workers for many families over the years.
We like that they offer a wide range of specialised care programmes to meet different patients’ needs. SA Nanny provides assistance with child care, elderly care, and domestic care.
Their home health care services are in-demand for their cheaper care plans. We’re told that their rates are among the lowest in the market. You can enquire about their prices personally or through the email addresses available on their website.
One of SA Nanny’s unique features is they offer assistance in contracting and general administration in case you’re interested to hire a care worker outside of their roster.
Basically, they’ll handle all the paperwork, as well as the payslips, registration, and other administrative tasks. We love this idea as it allows clients to hire a caregiver privately.
We think it’s awesome that SA Nanny also offers training courses and workshops for starting caregivers.
There are several topics to choose from: baby care and safety, basic first aid and child safety, stimulation workshop, professionalism and work ethics workshop, and domestic worker’s workshop.
Nonetheless, we’re iffy about the inconsistency in the quality of their caregivers. A few of their previous patients shared their experience with poorly trained staff who were rude and unprofessional while handling patients.
Supposedly, clients can go through SA Nanny’s database of caregivers to select the best one for them. However, their system is faulty and is almost always down, which is an inconvenience.

Pros
- Offers scheduled, short term, and 24-hour care
- Very cheap hourly rate
- Well-staffed with registered nurses
- Also has an in-house shop for caregiving equipment
Cons
- Online booking is not available
- One-off report on poor servicing
CareChamp is one of the most sought-after and highly-rated home care service providers in Johannesburg and Pretoria. The positive regard they receive from previous clients is overwhelming.
We love how well they build relationships with clients. In our opinion, this is a crucial factor in providing high-quality patient care.
They offer several types of care programmes: frail care, post-operative care, disability care, dementia care, companion care, relief care, palliative care, and child and baby care.
CareChamp provides their services for one-day care, recurring bookings, fixed daily, as well as 24-hour care. Moreover, they also provide training workshops for starting family caregivers.
It’s a plus for us that this company is well-staffed with registered nurses and trained caregivers. CareChamp also has companions who help out and work part-time.
These companions are individuals who are usually retired from their professional careers, usually from the healthcare sector. However, they accept help from university students too.
One thing we love about CareChamp is their very cheap hourly rate of R 58 – R 69 and 24/7 live-in care that only costs R 849-R 945 per day. We think it’s awesome that through their cheap rates, they’re able to make home health care accessible to more.
We also think it’s a great asset that CareChamp has its own in-house shop for caregiving equipment.
They sell mobility aids, bathroom aids, beds, and mattresses, and their catalogue can be easily viewed on their website. For short-term use, they also have some equipment up for rent.

Pros
- Member of the Caregivers RSA network
- Focused on providing care for the elderly, chronically ill, and disabled
- Offers several servicing options
- Good patient monitoring
Cons
- Location is outside of the city
- Inactive customer support
Caregivers West Rand provides professional home health care primarily for the elderly, chronically ill, and disabled. They also have programmes for those recuperating from operations or illnesses like stroke or other motor-neuron diseases.
One of the strongest assets of this home health care service provider is their well-built credibility. Through the years, they were able to garner impressive positive remarks from previous clients.
Caregivers West Rand is an accredited member of the Caregivers RSA network, which allows them access to high-quality nurses and skilled caregivers.
Their process is thorough, but pretty easy too. Caregivers West Rand’s management visits the potential patient to build a comprehensive brief.
Through this, they are able to develop an assessment and identify the most appropriate care programme for the patient. They will then assign a qualified caregiver that perfectly matches the patient’s case.
Caregivers West Rand also has a pretty good patient monitoring practice. Once a patient is enrolled in one of their care programmes, a management staff member will visit the patient’s home regularly to check on them.
Nonetheless, we’re sad to say that their customer support isn’t as strong. There are some complaints from potential clients about how Caregivers West Rand’s customer service representatives seem inactive in responding to inquiries.
Also, take into consideration that Caregivers West Rand is based outside the city.
If transportation would be a problem, or if you’re looking for short-term or daily home health care servicing, it might be more practical to hire from a centre that’s located near your home.
