The Best Hair Salons in Roodepoort for Stylish & Healthy Locks!
As the team’s go-to hair expert (by evidence, not ego), I take salon picks seriously. You don’t go through a string of botched dye jobs and bad trims without learning a thing or two.
So when someone—usually a styling novice in crisis mode—asks where to get a decent cut or advanced treatment, I end up rambling about credentials, vibes, and most importantly, costs.
That’s exactly what happened when a friend in Roodepoort brought up her struggles with choosing a hair salon. In response, I gave out my personal faves, which I’ll also share with you here!

Hair in Motion does blonde really well. Interviewees said the results stick without yellowing or dryness.
Elna, the owner, isn’t a rookie either. She received her hairstyling diploma back in 1990 and has even done makeovers for Finesse Magazine!
As for the pricing, many call theirs reasonable (you have to ring them up for exact quotes). Seasonal discounts sweeten the deal, like the colouring special I got last winter.
The salon itself isn’t the trendiest looking, but the space is clean and spacious and has natural lighting. Free coffee is even poured for clients!
It’d be handier, though, if you can book sessions online or via the app. Most joints I frequent offer both conveniences.
The service list is a tad shorter as well. Treatments such as advanced colouring (e.g. balayage and ombre) and keratin smoothing aren’t available.
So Precise
Best blonde hairdresser in town that doesn’t over charge, and her prices are very reasonable. Elna is so precise when it comes to blonde, she is amazing and looks after your hair. She doesn’t use toner on my hair which I love, my hair is never yellow and never feels damaged at all when I leave. The products she uses makes my hair feel fantastic and healthy. Been with her and Lydia for most of this year and I won’t go to any other hairdresser! What a gem!💎🤩

Super Friendly

When we heard that some folks have been loyal to Style 4 U for around 3–14 years, the crew had to give it a try.
I think customer service plays a factor in that. Their team is professional but not cold, with passionate, sympathetic (particularly to those with hair mishaps), and personable stylists.
They’re even good at handling kiddos! A teammate brought her “spirited” child here once, and the cut went smoothly.
If there are drawbacks, pricing is one. They’re not overly expensive, but cheaper picks are around.
And like the previous entry, Style 4 U doesn’t have a specific app for booking. That’s probably why a few clients’ scheduling mix-ups happened before.
Fortunately, their range isn’t short. You can swing by for keratin treatments, balayage (they’re Wella-trained), weaves, and more.
Another advantage is the Sunday opening, a major edge since most salons in Roodepoort aren’t open daily.

Professional, Hilarious, Adaptable
Francois has such a way with kids. My 7yo cannot stop looking at himself in the mirror and commenting on how “handsome” he looks after seeing Francois for a quick cut earlier. Professional, hilarious, adaptable. Can’t see myself going anywhere else to make my boy feel handsome again.

If experience matters most to you, Figure Heads is the salon to hit. They’re over 27 years old in 2025 and have patrons sticking for 5-plus years.
Now, we’re not saying tenure is all they have. Prices are also fair for Roodepoort, and you can score price cuts and vouchers occasionally, like the 30% discount for first-time visitors.
The service list isn’t light either. It features the basics, with perms, tints, highlights (arguably their most praised offering), and even nail treatments, which rival the quality of nail salons in Joburg (nail salon johannesburg).
Space-wise, it’s clean and naturally lit, though not as spacious or modern-looking as those of other picks.
Figure Heads also runs a fairly small crew, usually with LC at the helm. Calling or booking ahead is safer than walking in.
On the upside, products here aren’t dodgy brands. A few years ago, I scored a Bonacure set that did wonders for my curly hair (fab for perms too).
Outcome Was Lovely
Decided to try a different salon, as I wasn’t completely happy with my last stylist. I described and showed Elsie the cut I liked. She understood and gave practical advice for my hair type. The outcome was lovely and suited me perfectly. Will be staying with her for a while.

Amazing
I love my bi-monthly visits to the Figureheads Salon. LC is amazing with difficult hair. Between the right products and the right cut LC has taught me a lot about how to look after my hair and manage it better. Koils and Kurls is for the tots. In fact, they’re quite known for providing young ones with braids, updos, and freehand styles.
My favourite bit is the patience their stylists have. Memory and Kagiso, for instance, handled my workmates’ kids (2–3 years old) brilliantly (and trust me, those little ones can really throw tantrums).
The child-friendly interior earns some extra points too. It has plenty of colour and charm, and the car-shaped chairs really help calm fussy clients down.
That said, you might have to wait a bit. Lots of parents bring their kiddos here, even on Sundays and especially during the back-to-school rush’s height.
We’ve also met clients who didn’t appreciate that the waiting list wasn’t followed properly.
The good news is that rates are still fair for Roodepoort, despite the price increase last October 2025. They’re generous with discounts as well, and booking online is often seamless.

Hair type isn’t a big issue at Espavo Hair Design. From our interviews, they can sort out ethnic, Asian, and Caucasian hair, extensions and wigs included.
The salon also offers dedicated barber services, so precision cuts and grooming for men are on the board. What’s nice is that every sesh kicks off with consultations.
The product line-up is well-chosen, too. Last time I dropped by, Espavo’s shelves were stocked with L’anza (pretty good at making my hair shine), QuickGrow, and ELEVEN Australia.
Better yet, I paid less here than at most chain salons. I could’ve even grabbed a better deal if I had opted for a Black Friday trip.
The lack of Sunday and Monday hours, however, is a major gripe, considering most joints grind for at least six days.
It also doesn’t help that Espavo is typically packed on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Calling ahead is a must.

I have been coming here for 8 years and with the stylists for the last 15 years. The stylists are brilliant and the service is fantastic. I am always fully satisfied with my hair. This place is not only a salon, it’s a family, a place of love and care. Community is key… Thanks guys for always making me feel like a million bucks 🥰😁❤️

Walked Out Feeling Like a New Person
