I gave H202 a whirl after hearing patrons describe it as a cost-efficient salon. Indeed, it was, as the prices I paid aligned with Paarl’s averages.

Carli and her team were also friendly to me, probably why even anxious and first-time clients say they feel at ease here. It helps that sessions start with honest consults, too.

On the service end, precision haircuts and trendy, edgy styling are their money-maker, followed by colouring and repair. That ticks our range box.

I don’t have any qualms about the products either. They used Davines’ Heart of Glass shampoo to cleanse and smooth out my locks, and it delivered.

What’s more, the space has a stylish and modern look. There’s even a pop-up outside pouring coffee and scooping ice cream, giving it that cafe vibe.

Good luck nabbing your ideal time, though. They fill up quickly.

Oh, and don’t expect a loyalty program.

Quite and Content Space

Always happy with the professional service at H2o2 hair salon. Carli and the girls are well trained and always exceeds expectations. There is an outside area where you can enjoy tea/coffee and even bring some work with. It’s a quiet and content space with modern interior and high quality products. Price for color, cut, & style are also within budget and great value for money.

Tosca Salon’s crew, especially Olivia, turned me into a fan. The ladies were cordial, didn’t rush the service (including the neck/head massage), offered helpful product advice, and quoted me a reasonable bill.

I love the products and styling tools as well, and you’ll say the same if you’re after pro-grade brands, such as Muk, Joico, and Veaudry.

Shame they didn’t offer a cup of tea or coffee. I think a brew really helps for clients who stay for hours.

And similar to the last spot, this one can get booked out, too.

The silver lining? Waiting for a spot rewards you, as they offer weekday promos. Some are combo deals, while others are discounts.

Patrons even get to earn loyalty points that can be converted to promos.

Plus, their service list is stacked. The must-haves are all there, with Botox, micro keratin, upstyles, and kids’ cuts/blow dry to boot.

It’s hard to knock on Style Bar’s product lineup. You’ll find some of the best haircare brands on their shelves, including OLAPLEX, L’Oreal, Wella, Schwarzkopf, and Joico.

Here’s the surprising part: the prices are still fair for Paarl’s standard. Sometimes, they’ll even blow-dry your hair without charging extra.

You can visit for almost every type of service, too, though deep conditioning and smoothing are the treatments most pay for.

We heard no major gripes about the customer service either. The stylists are said to be timely and welcoming, and you can wait with a brew in hand.

Still, there are tiny flaws here and there, like the lack of a loyalty program and the space not being the roomiest on this list.

Past that, Style Bar is a smart pick, especially if you need a salon close to the city. It’s only an 8-minute drive from Paarl’s CBD.

Scissors on Main is a Paarl staple. The salon has been around since 1993, providing clients with precision cuts, colouring services, bleaching treatments, and specialised hair solutions (like curl maintenance).

You can expect pretty competitive rates here. Students even occasionally get discounts, so don’t leave your ID at home.

Another boon is the easygoing atmosphere. The staff is welcoming, and the stylists (namely Antoinette) are patient even if the hair is difficult to style/cut.

They get extra points for the sleek aesthetics. While the colour scheme is dark, it never feels heavy (at least to me), thanks to the minimalist decor and natural accents.

There’s no loyalty program, though. That’s unfortunate, considering they have lots of patrons.

Their hours are also shorter than most salons, which often run for six days or seven days.

But hey, you get freebies like massages and coffee or tea!

Beyond Happy

The best hairdresser for curly hair! I spent years searching for a hairdresser who really understands how to cut curly hair, and I finally found the perfect one at Scissors on Main. I am always beyond happy with my haircut — it’s clear they truly know how to work with curls, not just cut around them. Even though it’s quite a drive for me, I am more than willing to travel the distance because I know I’m in excellent hands every time. I feel so well taken care of, and I always leave feeling confident and loving my hair. If you have curly hair and you’ve struggled to find someone who gets it, I can’t recommend Scissors on Main highly enough!

If you’re looking for a full-service salon that doesn’t overcharge, Beyond Beauty is gander-worthy. Many consider their pricing affordable.

And as mentioned, this one is a complete package. Aesthetic treatments (hair, nail, and facial), cuts, keratin, Botox, digital permanent makeup, and microblading are offered under one roof.

The prices are also competitive, with occasional deals as the icing. For instance, some of my friends enjoyed two treatments for a discounted rate.

Not everybody is pleased with the results, though. Some moaned about not getting the lashes and colours they hoped for.

You can’t subscribe to a loyalty program either, a bummer since they have returning clients.

On the flip side, Beyond Beauty’s “luxe” vibe gets our approval. The tranquil music and model look set the mood well (and even their water is branded).

Best of all, they have staff with 15–20 years of experience and advanced diplomas in fields like Dermal Aesthetics.
